Fortnite is rolling out yet another game update, adding, tweaking, or fixing several pieces of content in the game. Always churning out new updates to keep gameplay fresh, the free-to-play title's latest rollout, v21.30, does just that, bringing in the all-new Prime Shotgun amongst a handful of smaller content changes.

Epic Games' ever-popular battle royale title is now well into its second month of Chapter 3 Season 3. The summer festival-themed season, which features Lucasfilm heavy hitters in Indiana Jones and Darth Vader as its featured skins, has been adding a variety of weapons both old and new to the island, like the Combat Assault Rifle from Chapter 2.

Detailed in an official blog post, Fortnite's v21.30 update's biggest component is the addition of the entirely new Prime Shotgun. The most interesting aspect of the Prime Shotgun is that it deals the most damage, supposedly 50 percent, from its first shot, while the remaining three rounds in the clip deal a consistent amount of damage. Players will be able to tell if they have their new close-range weapon primed by looking both at the HUD ammo counter and the shotgun's light display. Prime Shotguns can be picked up from the ground, Chests, Supply Drops, Reality Saplings, fishing, and sharks.

The v21.30 update also opens the door to most of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass skins, including Malik, Evie, Adira, Sabina, and Stormfarer. All five of the Fortnite original skins will be available in all of the season's Super Level Style variants, including Platinum Rift, Lapis Slurp, and Auric Blaze, where previously certain skins received certain variants. While it likely won't cause much of a shift in the best Fortnite skins of 2022 rankings, the skins are definitely visually mesmerizing.

While there is an all-new weapon and new Super Level Styles to unlock, there seems to be substantially less content than Fortnite's previous update. The prior update, v21.20, added several major pieces of content including the Shuffled Shrines POI, setting off the Indiana Jones quest line, and the Charge SMG, the divisive new weapon that operates similarly to the now-vaulted Charge Shotgun. The update was also responsible for un-vaulting the fan-favorite Port-a-Fort. While essentially just the Prime Shotgun and Super Level Styles, the blog does hint at updates regarding summer festivities in the coming days.

With likely only a few days left until Fortnite gets a new wave of summer content, players who want to stay ahead of the curve will want to make sure they've combined the Relic Shards in the main chamber of Shuffled Shrines, and are therefore up-to-date with Fortnite's main quest line.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
