Frey unwillingly teleports from New York into the lands of Athia when she tries on the very shiny Cuff in Forspoken. She now has to deal with all the changes that come with cultural differences. The land of Athia is not like the girl’s hometown, and during most parts of the game, Frey can be seen desperately trying to find a way out of Athia. The place has different lands, architects, clothes, and currencies than the one in New York.
The currencies used in Athia are Old Coins and Poppets. The first can be exchanged in the Book Store for knowledge, while the Poppets are exchanged for Cloaks, Nuggets, and Bumbershoot at the Trading Spot in Forspoken.
Where To Use Poppets And Old Coins In Forspoken
Poppets and Old Coins are used at the Trading Spot, Book Shop, Curiosity Shop, and Kitty Gift Shop in Forspoken. Exchanging these two Athian currencies will not be available for players until chapter four. That's because it is not until chapter three that Olevia teaches Frey how to craft and upgrade items in Forspoken.
The Trading Spot and Book Shop are behind Pilo at the beginning of chapter four. The Shops are marked by an exchange arrow icon on the map. However, their location changes as Frey progresses through the chapters, since it depends on what is happening during the chapters' events.
Where To Use Poppets
Poppets are a rare resource in Forspoken. They are used as a currency that can be exchanged at the Trading Spot for unique items like:
- Nugget: A lump of rare metal used to craft materials, like increasing the Medicine Pouch capacity.
- Palerine: A Cloak that may restore health when Frey lands a Crit hit on an enemy.
- Bumbershoot: A very rare mushroom used as a premium crafting material.
- Stranith: A Cloak that has the effect of decreasing negative status effects on Frey, like poisoning.
The Poppets can only be acquired when Frey follows Cipal City stray cats in Forspoken. By doing so, the fluffy felines will reward players with a pouch that has a Poppet inside.
Where To Use Old Coins
Old Coins were a valuable item in Athia before the Break, as it was made of Athian Silver. However, now, because of the cashless economic system, the coins lost their value. Nevertheless, players can exchange it at the Book Shop for books or at the Curiosity Shop for various rare items like:
- Gravity Lantern: Allows Frey to gather mana over a wider area.
- Comfy pillow: Grant the protagonist extra effects whenever she sleeps.
- Crafting Pot: Convert natural resources into other forms.
- Compass: Unlocks the Forge option, which allows Frey to gather items while camping.
- Sewing Kit: Grants the ability to craft new Necklaces and Cloaks in Forspoken.
To reach the Curiosity Shop, teleport to the Inner Visoria Belfry Tower in Forspoken. Then, head to the far west and locate a small wooden house. There, the protagonist will meet the Curio Collector, who will offer his intriguing treasures for Old Coins in Forspoken.
Additionally, the Old Coins can also be exchanged at the Kitty Gift Shop for a Scratching Board, Cat Grass, Ball, Cookpot, and a Toy for Frey’s Familiars. The Kitty Gift Shop only appears after the Corruption occurs in Cipal city during chapter seven of Forspoken.
