Table of contents

Forspoken's four abominations are meant to provide the game's toughest challenge, and appear to be the final form of many of the game's toughest enemies. While at least one abomination can be fought before the end of the game, Frey will be much better prepared to take on the fight when she has access to all of Forspoken's spells.

Each region in Forspoken has one abomination that is well-hidden, with no hints or references pointing to the fact they even exist. Just as each region is progressively more difficult, so too are the battles with the abominations. Frey will have to use every tool at her command to overcome this trial, which can prove challenging on any of Forspoken's difficulty levels. For every abomination she takes down, Frey will be rewarded with one high-end set of Forspoken's magic nails.

How to Find and Defeat Gigas, the Abomination in Praenost

Forspoken-Gigas-Info

Gigas will be one of the easier abominations to locate. Frey may even accidentally stumble upon its arena while exploring the dusty desert hills of Forspoken's Praenost Region.

Where to Find Gigas:

Forspoken-Gigas-Map

The quickest way to reach Gigas is to fast-travel to the Mount Garrison Refuge. Look to the southwest of the refuge on the map to find Gigas' symbol. From the refuge, Frey simply has to follow the hill up and around, eventually reaching Gigas' arena, The Rock Beds.

How to Defeat Gigas:

Gigas is the absolute pinnacle of the breakborn, a form of enemy in Forspoken that was once human. This hulking brute uses its freakish strength to try and obliterate Frey as quickly as possible.

Vulnerable to: Olas' Green Magic

Resistant to: Sila's Red Magic

Attack Strategy:

  • Gigas is extremely vulnerable to Olas' electric magic. There is truly no reason for Frey to use anything else.
  • As it's better to keep a safe distance from Gigas, try using either Seeker Dart or Pulse Dart. Both allow Frey to plant multiple darts into Gigas and charge a massive attack that can significantly reduce its health.
  • If playing on Forspoken's 'Normal' difficulty, the only support Frey will likely need are her Healing Draughts, but if she is struggling, or playing at higher difficulties, try using the following support magic:
    • Alb - Prav's Spells: Dramatically lowers the damage from the next attack on Frey.
    • Sublimation - Olas' Spells: Heals Frey without using draughts.
    • Displacement - Olas' Spells: Create a clone for Gigas to attack, giving Frey time to recuperate.
    • Experiment: There are a lot of great spells to choose from. Remember, Gigas is vulnerable to Olas' electricity.

Gigas' Moveset:

Leaping Slam:

  • Gigas' flashes the red X symbol before leaping into the air and slamming down on Frey. Cuff cannot successfully block this attack.
  • This attack has a small but dangerous AOE when Gigas slams its arms onto the ground raising up hot chunks of rock, so make sure to clear Gigas' landing zone by a wide margin.
  • Pay close attention, especially later in the fight, as Gigas likes to start chaining multiple leaping slams together. Keep flow active and keep moving until Frey knows Gigas has stopped.

Overhead Fireball:

Forspoken-Gigas-Overhead-Fireball-1
  • Another red X attack, Gigas takes several moments to gather a large fireball above its head, launching it at Frey. The fireball can track Frey,
  • It can be very hard to dodge this attack, so the safest bet is to look for cover while Gigas is preparing the fireball.

Leaning Charge:

Forspoken-Gigas-Charging-Attack

Large AOE Explosion:

  • Gigas starts sucking in air and debris, eventually exploding into a massive fireball. This attack must be avoided by running back and keeping ample distance.

Basic Attacks:

  • Gigas has a few basic swiping attacks that it will use should Frey get to close. These can be avoided while using Flow, and can be Cuff Countered should Frey get hit.

Rewards for Defeating Gigas:

Forspoken-Gigas-Reward
  • Nails - Fatale: Enemies can be knocked down easier based on total number of spells learned, plus all spell damage increased by 2%.

How to Find and Defeat Deinosuchus, Avoalet's Abomination

Forspoken-Deinosuchus-Info

Deinosuchus is also fairly easy to find, being conveniently located very close to Gigas. Unfortunately, that's where all things easy end with this abomination. This water-based breakbeast can be one of Forspoken's most tedious battles.

Where to Find Deinosuchus:

Forspoken-Deino-Map-2

To reach this abomination, Frey can simply fast-travel into The Moulderings, found in the southern tip of Avoalet. If Frey has not visited, traveling into the Samum Coast refuge and heading east will work as well.

How to Defeat Deinosuchus

This abomination is water-bound, with small islands of land available for Frey to attack from. The nature of Deinosuchus' attacks mean Frey is constantly on the move, leaving little time to strike. This can make the fight seem extremely tedious. Remember to stay patient and Frey will eventually wear the abomination down.

Vulnerable to: Frey's Purple Magic

Resistant to: Prav's Blue Magic

Attack Strategy:

  • Deinosuchus is always in the water for this fight, because of this it essentially controls the distance Frey can fight from. When Frey is closer, try using charged Burst Shot. When Frey is further away, try using Scatter Shot, which has slightly more range. If both aren't hitting, try using the basic Shot. It is vulnerable to all of Frey's magic, so it will still be more powerful than other spell sets.
  • Be prepared to fire from Parkour often. Frey is going to be moving for large sections of the fight, so shooting while in the air is going to be a must.
  • Frey must have Glide during this fight. Not having it will cause it to be even longer. Most of the arena is water, trying to swim from island to island is a recipe for disaster.
  • Like the other abominations, Deinosuchus is vulnerable to one magic type. Using other spell sets is almost a complete waste of time. Focus on Purple Magic to end the fight as quickly as possible.
  • Any support magic that shoots projectiles can help, but Disperse is by far the most effective, given that it is from Frey's Forspoken magic set. Screen can help protect Frey, but only to a degree.

Deinosuchus' Move Set

Water Blade Projectiles:

Forspoken-Deino-Water-Blades
  • One of Deinosuchus' most common attacks. It will send large, saw-blade shaped projectiles hurtling at Frey. Using Flow will allow her to easily dodge.
  • Later in the fight, the intensity and frequency of this attack will increase considerably.

Location Change/Small AOE Water Attack:

  • These attacks will appear in several circumstances, most commonly after larger attacks or when the abomination changes locations. The creature will disappear into a cloud of fog, and shortly after, small circles of blue light will appear on the ground. This can happen on land or in water.
  • Shortly after appearing, a large plume of water will burst from the indicated area, damaging Frey and knocking her prone.
  • Deinosuchus will usually appear immediately after the attack, briefly shrouded in fog again. Attack the beast to remove the fog.

Water Laser Beam:

Forspoken-Deino-Beam
  • Another of Deinosuchus' main attacks, this beam is extremely dangerous. Look for the purple X indicator of a piercing attack. In some instances, Frey can interrupt these attacks against this specific enemy. Sending a charged Burst Shot can sometimes work, but if it fails, Frey can be left vulnerable.
  • Taking a direct hit will briefly destroy Cuff's defenses. If Frey is hit again with this attack while Cuff is on cooldown, it can kill her instantly.
  • The best option here is to immediately initiate Flow when the first sign of a water beam is noticed. Frey will dodge is easily in this case.

Splashing Mortar Pierce:

Forspoken-Deino-Splash-2
  • The second piercing attack from Deinosuchus finds it doing something of a belly flop in front of Frey's location. This causes several explosions to happen around the target, almost as if mortars were landing.
  • The explosions will have indicators similar to the previous AOE attacks. Like the laser beam, it's better to simply begin Flow when the purple X is seen. It's better to stay alive.

Water Drones:

Forspoken-Deino-Drones
  • Deinosuchus will conjure up several balls of water that hover above the arena. These will each shoot a water beam towards Frey, causing massive damage if successful.
  • If seen, keep an eye on them. It's hard to tell exactly when they will fire, but there is a brief indicator. Flow will allow Frey to dodge the beams.

Shrieking Terror:

Forspoken-Deino-Scream
  • A massive AOE attack that does damage and causes Frey's vision to go blurry. As soon Frey hears the tell-tame scream, and sees small red and pink specks in the air, she should get as far back as possible.

Rewards for Defeating Deinosuchus:

Forspoken-Deino-Reward
  • Nails - Spectrum: Critical hit rate boosted basted on the number of total spells learned, plus all spell damage increased by 2%.
  • XP

How to Find and Defeat Amphicynodon, Viserion's Abomination

Forspoken-Amphicynodon-Info

How to Find Amphicynodon:

This abomination can be found in the southern region of Viserion, nestled away in an easily missed section of Southern Plateau. From the Southern Plateau refuge, look to the east to find the river that Frey must follow to get to The Boneyard, Amphicynodon's arena.

How to Defeat Amphicynodon:

Vulnerable to: Sila's Red Magic

Resistant to: Frey's Purple Magic

Attack Strategy:

  • Many of Sila's attacks require Frey to be at close range. This is a dangerous enemy to fightr from so close, so if Frey is going to use Arc Slice or Rage Slice, make sure to come in for quick bursts and exit before the beast can retaliate.
  • For ranged attacks, Frey can use Blast Slice, but make sure to judge the timing carefully. Amphicynodon is an extremely aggressive enemy, and will punish Frey for taking too much time to charge her attacks.
  • Support magic works very well with this abomination. Sila has several support attacks that can be powerful boons:
    • Firetrap, Crucible: Allows Frey to use fire to do considerable damage under and around Amphicynodon.
    • Bombardier, Charge: Both extremely quick attacks will do great damage against this beast.
    • Fusillade: This is a great one to use if Frey charges her attacks. This will attack the enemy while Frey is charging her weapon, and it can do considerable damage. One of Forspoken's very best defensive spells.
  • Use Surge Magic: Keep an eye on Frey's surge meter and use Conflagration whenever possible.
  • Several of Amphicynodon's attacks lower Frey's defense, signified by a purple shield next to her health bar. Use Aegis to remove the debuff.

Amphicynodon's Move Set:

Opening Salvo/Golden Explosion:

Forspoken-Amphi-Golden-Explosion-2(1)
  • When Frey first arrives at The Boneyard, expect as massive unblockable attack that fills the screen with a golden explosion. Extreme caution should be used here, simply stay far enough away from the attack to finish before beginning to attack the abomination.
  • This attack is also used throughout the fight, so if a red X is seen, run.

Up From the Ground:

Forspoken-Amphi-Up-From-Ground-2
  • In this piercing attack, Amphicynodon rears up and smashes into the ground, causing large chunks of rock to shoot up in an area ahead of it. This can be easily dodged by using flow.

Leaping Attacks:

Forspoken-Amphi-Leap
  • The beast has multiple versions of this attack, one a piercing attack that can break Cuff's defenses, and one a basic attack that is blockable. Look for the purple X as it jumps.

Big Golden AOE:

  • Roughly halfway through the fight, not only will the general intensity increase, but the beast will introduce a massive AOE attack. Look for golden light to begin forming on the ground. Make sure to keep completely clear of the affected area. A massive explosion will follow. Once outside the AOE, Frey can use ranged attacks if she has time.

Letting Off Steam:

Forspoken-Amphi-Steam
  • Amphicynodon will quickly pull in air and release a burst of energy that cannot be blocked. This happens quickly, so keep a sharp eye for any red X, and the moment it is seen, run away.

Reward for Defeating Amphicynodon:

Forspoken-Honor-Nails
  • Nails: Honor - Boosts Prav-Specific spells based on the number learned, and boosts overall Prav spell damage by 5%.
  • Materials
  • XP

How to Find and Defeat Apsaravis, Junoon's Abomination

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Info

Where to Find Apsaravis:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Map

Apsaravis is found in a secret location known as Nowhere. It is found near the game's final photo spot, which requires Frey to traverse an environmental puzzle to reach.

How to Defeat Apsaravis:

Apsaravis is the only Abominatoin that can fly, making it slightly trickier than the others to defeat. Frey can use Zip to get somewhere close to flying, but it is also entirely possible to defeat Apsaravis without ever leaving the ground.

Vulnerable to: Prav's Blue Magic

Resistant to: Olas' Green Magic

Attack Strategy:

  • Given that Apsaravis is vulnerable to Prav's magic, and that it flies, the best tool for attack will be Chain Bolt. It requires accuracy, but no other attack will do nearly as much damage.
  • Any of Prav's Support attack magic is helpful. Eagre and Maelstrom are particularly effective against flying enemies.
  • Apsaravisis capable of causing every debuff possible, so make sure to have Aegis and Leach prepared.
  • While this is a difficult fight, the tactics are relatively straightforward. Stick to the ground, as using Zip just makes it harder. Focus on hitting the enemy with fully charged Chain Bolt shots, and it will be over quickly.
  • Consider applying debuff immunity to one of Forspoken's many cloaks.

Apsaravis' Move Set:

Flinging Tornado:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Tornado
  • Apsaravis dives to the ground, creating an unblockable tornado that will fling Frey into the air if it comes into contact with her. This can be hard to avoid, but it does minor damage if Frey can use Flow to recover before she hits the ground.

Wall of Wind:

  • Another unblockable attack, this time Apsaravis spins on the ground, sending a massive wall of wind rushing towards Frey. The attack has limited range that Frey can avoid if she stays far enough away.

Electric Projectiles:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Electric-Projectiles
  • While in the air, the beast charges up, electric energy coursing through its body. In a sudden burst, the enemy spins, flinging small electric projectiles out in multiple random directions. As long as Frey stays in Flow, she will be able to dodge them.

Poison Bombs:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Poision
  • Exactly like it sounds. The flying creature releases a massive ball of poison that creates a large AOE on the ground. As long as Frey avoids it, she'll be fine. Make sure to take note of where it is, as Frey will be looking up often to keep track of the abomination. It's easy to accidentally wander through it.
  • These bombs don't just cause the poison debuff, they can cause every single debuff to take effect. Be careful not to touch, but if hit, make sure to have the appropriate spell prepared beforehand in each set. Leach (Frey) and Aegis (Sila) being the primary focus.

Shrieking Fear:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Shriek
  • Similar to the attacks from other abominations. Apsaravis brings air in and then releases a large burst of energy. As long as Frey runs when she hears the scream, she'll likely won't be anywhere near the AOE.

Massive Lightning Bomb:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Massive-Lightning
  • As the abomination gets taken down below half health, it will start getting increasingly desperate, chaining attacks together in the hopes of catching Frey unable to maintain defense. This will also be the time it introduces its most dangerous attack, a massive lightning bomb that can bring Frey down to zero health if she takes a direct hit. Watch for the massive beast to begin charging itself up with more electricity than it previously had, reaching the point where it is entirely covered in white light. This is the sign that the attack is coming, and Frey must either behind cover, or hope she is lucky enough to dodge.

Rewards for Defeating Apsaravis:

Forspoken-Apsaravis-Reward
  • Nails - Escalate: Enables Killer Blows to be chained together, and increases all spell damage by 2%
  • XP
  • Materials
