Table of contents

Like most modern open-world video games, Forspoken features enough side content to keep players busy for countless hours. Much of this can be found out in the world of Athia, with hundreds of points of interest for players to track down and interact with. There are also some more traditional side quests in Forspoken, which come in the form of Detours.

RELATED: Forspoken: Where To Use Poppets And Old Coins

There are 21 Detours tied to the city of Cipal, which is where many of the game's thirteen chapters start out. Some only become available after players have completed the main story, while others can only be tackled during the chapters in which they're unlocked. It's worth noting, though, that there is no reward for completing every Detour in Forspoken and that all of the Detours with Trophies/Achievements attached to them can be completed in the post-game.

Although none of the Trophies/Achievements in Forspoken are missable, there are a couple of missable Necklaces. The first is given to players as a reward for completing the Sila's Pact Detour during Chapter 7, while the second can be acquired by speaking with Johedy before leaving Cipal near the beginning of Chapter 10.

Chapter 3 Detours

Robian’s Treasured Memories is unlocked in Chapter 4 by speaking with Robian outside Auden's apartment, though this can only be done after finding Robian by the Ballow tree in the Harkiska Grove area of the city. To complete the Detour, players will need to visit various locations around the city in search of an item that Robian dropped earlier on. Once it's over, they'll receive 150 XP.

New Perspectives

The New Perspectives Detour is unlocked automatically when players attempt to leave Cipal during Chapter 4. To complete it, players will need to find and photograph fifty special locations throughout the world of Athia and then show the photos to the kids back in Cipal. They'll receive XP at certain intervals and milestones and will be able to complete the Detour at any point during or after the story.

Chasing the Black and White Cat Part 2

Chasing the Black and White Cat Part 2 becomes available in Chapter 4, though only after players have completed the first part and triggered the New Perspectives Detour by heading to the city gate. To complete it, players will have to follow the black and white cat once again, for which they'll be rewarded with another Poppet and 50 XP.

Chasing the Gray Cat Part 2

As with Chasing the Black and White Cat Part 2, unlocking Chasing the Gray Cat Part 2 requires players to complete the first gray cat Detour and then trigger the New Perspectives Detour by attempting to leave Cipal. After following the cat to its destination, players will receive a Poppet and 50 XP.

Dancing in Cipal

After heading to the tavern during Chapter 6 of Forspoken, players will be prompted to speak with all of the people at the celebration. At this point, speaking with Pilo will allow players to take part in a special dancing mini-game, which requires them to press their controller's face buttons when prompted. Completing this mini-game will reward players with 50 XP.

Chapter 7 Detours

Sila's Pact

Sila's Pact can be unlocked by visiting Johedy in the archives during Forspoken's seventh chapter. To complete it, players will need to head to the location marked on their map and defeat all of the enemies there, which means facing off against five Recreant Knights at once. After the knights have all been taken care of, players should head into the nearby building and grab Johedy's things. Taking them back to the former blacksmith will see players rewarded with the Nemeni Prisaha Necklace, as well as 100 XP.

Helping the Broken

After completing Sila's Pact in Chapter 7, players should look for an Event marker (?) in the area in front of the council building. Once they've interacted with the people here, they'll then need to head inside the council house and speak with Auden, who'll reluctantly agree to allow Frey to help her with some of her duties. First, players will need to interact with the three injured people near the entrance to the building. After that, they'll need to head down the steps toward the lower city and speak with a couple of guys to get hold of some rations. Finally, players can return to Auden, at which point they'll receive 100 XP as their reward.

Chasing the Striped Cat Part 1

Chasing the Striped Cat Part 1 becomes available in Chapter 7 after finding Robian near the Ballow tree in the Harkiska Grove area of Cipal. To complete it, players simply need to follow the striped cat to its destination, for which they'll be rewarded with a Poppet and 50 XP.

Chasing the Striped Cat Part 2

Chasing the Striped Cat Part 2 can only be tackled after completing Chasing the Striped Cat Part 1. As with the previous Detour, players just need to follow the cat until it stops in order to claim their reward, which once again consists of a Poppet and 50 XP.

Chapter 13 Detours

Chasing the Black Cat Part 1

Chasing the Black Cat Part 1 becomes available in Chapter 13 after completing the main story. As with all of the other cat-chasing Detours, it requires players to follow the cat until it stops running, for which they'll get a Poppet and 50 XP.

Chasing the Black Cat Part 2

Chasing the Black Cat Part 2 is unlocked by finishing Chasing the Black Cat Part 1. To complete it, players will again have to follow the Black cat until it stops, after which, they'll get 50 XP and their final Poppet as a reward.

Cipal Reborn

Cipal Reborn is another post-game Detour and is initiated by speaking with Pilo down in the lower city. To complete it, players will simply need to help three people by finding special items that are scattered throughout the city. They're all marked on the map, with Cuff Scans making it easy to pinpoint their exact locations. Finding them all will reward players with the Rebirth Trophy/Achievement as well as 100 XP.

Dancing in Cipal: Encore

After completing Cipal Reborn, players can speak with Pilo in the tavern for another dance-themed rhythm game. Completing Dancing in Cipal: Encore will reward players with some Mana and 300 XP.

Dancing in Cipal: Finale

Once players have finished with Dancing in Cipal: Encore, they'll unlock one last dancing-related Detour titled Dancing in Cipal: Finale. Completing this one will see players awarded 500 XP and also unlocking the Moves Trophy/Achievement.

Lost Lullabies

Lost Lullabies becomes available in Chapter 13 once players have completed the main story and can be triggered by speaking with Johedy in the upper city. To complete it, players will first need to go to the archives, after which, they'll have to speak with Jannesh in the Tower of Binnoi. From there, they should head for Junoon Castle and defeat the enemies there so that the storm subsides. This will allow them to head inside the castle, where Frey will finally receive her gift from Cinta. Players will then unlock the Promises Trophy/Achievement and will also get 1,000 XP.

A Blast from the Past

A Blast from the Past becomes available after completing Lost Lullabies. It requires players to take on all of the game's main bosses a second time, after which, they'll be able to replay them whenever they like. The rewards for each boss vary a little, with players receiving a combination of Mana and crafting materials. There are five bosses that can be refought in total, these being the Dragon, Tanta Sila, Tanta Prav, the Senseless Servant, and Susurrus.

Forspoken is available now on PS5 and PC.
