As For Honor enters into the final season of its fifth year, Ubisoft's popular fighter combining warriors and fighting styles from all throughout history has shown no signs of slowing down. The game's Frozen Shores expansion, launched early in December, brings the long-running fighting game to a chilly tundra setting and had previously teased a new character joining the roster for the conclusion of its fifth year. Now, a new trailer released on Ubisoft's YouTube channel has officially unveiled the Pirate as the newest class joining in the fight.

Throughout the first half-decade since For Honor released in February 2017, the game has frequently added new characters to its roster. With characters ranging from fully armored knights and fierce vikings to the more nimble and adept fighting styles of the game's Samurai and Wu Lin classes, For Honor currently boasts a roster of 29 characters with each featuring unique playstyles and tactics. Now, after being teased in the season preview trailer, For Honor has finally raised the curtain on the 30th character to join For Honor as the pirate slices and blasts their way into the medieval warfare.

The two-minute trailer released Thursday on Ubisoft's official channel finally reveals the previously teased Pirate and shows off a stylized story teaser introducing For Honor's newest character, as well as plenty of previews of her gameplay. Pirate's gameplay is a fitting mix of swordplay and gunplay with the female pirate weaving blasts from her pistol into her combos, as well as the character's executions. The trailer also teases a long-ranged attack with Pirate throwing an explosive into a crowd of oncoming enemies.

Alongside the official reveal of For Honor's newest character came a release date for when players could take the Pirate into battle and fans of the swashbuckling swordswoman won't have to wait long. The Pirate character is set to release a week following the upload of the trailer with an official launch date of January 27. Pirate's release comes not only as a cap to a season that saw For Honor come to Xbox Game Pass, but as the first member of the Outlander class For Honor announced will join the game during its sixth year.

2021 was an eventful fifth year for Ubisoft's long-running historical fighting game as For Honor saw multiple collaborations with other popular games. Ubisoft collaborated with Yacht Club Games early in 2021 to bring a suite of Shovel Knight-themed content to the game for a limited time and For Honor's Halloween event saw a collaboration with Dead by Daylight, bringing a game mode themed on the popular horror game. As For Honor approaches its fifth anniversary, the future looks bright for Ubisoft's fighting game and Pirate looks to bring a new spin to For Honor's signature chaotic action.
