Since its initial release in 2017, For Honor has been popular among gamers for its tactical combat and medieval-steeped aesthetic. Ubisoft has frequently added new characters to the game, often receiving new heroes like Conqueror and Shaolin with each season. For Honor even recently introduced crossplay, allowing players across multiple platforms to play together for the first time in the game's five-and-a-half years. Now, with the game's sixth year well under way already, Ubisoft has revealed the newest Hero set to join the fight.

For Honor's Heroes have spanned a wide variety of different playstyles and weapons based on warriors from throughout history. The game's main character genres have spanned a plethora of different ethnic backgrounds from characters like the Gladiator and Warmonger to Eastern-inspired Heroes like Kensei and Nobushi. For Honor even introduced an entirely new subset of characters called Outlanders earlier this year with the introduction of Pirate. Now, the Outlanders are set to receive their second member with the arrival of Medjay.

Ubisoft officially revealed Medjay with a flashy cinematic trailer introducing the character's backstory and playstyle. Medjay wields a bifurcated staff with an axe blade on each end that the character can also detach to wield as two separate axes. The brief snippets of gameplay suggest players will be able to swap back and forth between the two fighting styles in combat to change their patterns for different situations and matchups. The trailer also reveals Medjay's release date with the character officially becoming available on July 28th.

Much like the Pirate before him, the introduction of Medjay brings a thoroughly unique aesthetic with the character that is unlike any others in For Honor. While each faction is generally based on different historical themes like the Knights with medieval Europe and Wu Lin stylized after Ancient China, Medjay appears to be based on Egyptian culture. Medjay also plays heavily into the story of For Honor's Year 6 Season 2 with the "Curse of the Scarab" plot heavily revolving around the stolen Scarab Bracelet.

Medjay comes as For Honor has never been easier for new players to start playing with several recent changes making the game more accessible. Alongside the previously mentioned introduction of crossplay, For Honor: Marching Fire Edition was added as a free game to Xbox Game Pass last month. For Honor is also included as a part of the library for PS Plus Extra following the subscription service's overhaul last month. Medjay will bring unique aesthetics and gameplay to For Honor when he is officially released next week.

For Honor is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
