Football Manager 2023 makes its debut across various consoles this month, but a sudden delay will push the PlayStation 5 version to a later date after the November 8 launch. Fortunately, the rest of the console versions are unaffected by Football Manager 2023's delay for PS5.

Sega and developer Sports Interactive are pushing the PS5 release of Football Manager 2023 to a later date due to "unforeseen circumstances" that arose during the submissions and approvals process. These issues are preventing Football Manager 2023 from launching for the latest PlayStation platform, so PlayStation Store digital pre-orders will be canceled in accordance with Sony's platform policy. In addition, full refunds will be made to PS5 customers that pre-ordered Football Manager 2023. No action is needed on the customer's end to receive the refund according to Sega and Sports Interactive.

Sports Interactive studio director Miles Jacobson is distraught by the sudden delay of Football Manager 2023 for PS5. According to him, Sega and Sports Interactive have worked with partners to remedy the issues involving the PS5 version for a number of weeks. He did not elaborate further about specific details surrounding the game's submissions and approvals process. However, Jacobson hopes Football Manager 2023 will release soon for PS5 gamers since the development team at Sports Interactive worked hard to finalize the game.

Since a PS4 version of Football Manager 2023 does not exist, the delay means PlayStation gamers will be unable to play the game until a release date for the PS5 version is determined. Further, PS5 players will be unable to pre-order the game for the time being. Sports Interactive ensures fans that all other versions of Football Manager 2023 will release on November 8 as intended, and Sega will update fans about the PS5 version when the earliest opportunity arises.

Football Manager 2023's PS5 delay is unfortunate for world-class football fans wanting to branch out from FIFA 23 by EA Sports. The latest iteration of Football Manager introduces the highly-anticipated UEFA Club Competition license to the series, allowing players to participate in an authentic match day experience featuring the world's elite football clubs. Players will unfortunately have to wait until the game is ready and approved for PlayStation's latest hardware.

The next-gen Football Manager experience won't be entirely gone, however. Xbox Game Pass subscribers receive Football Manager 2023 on launch day, and the Xbox Series X version of Football Manager 2023 supports 4K resolution, HDR10, Smart Delivery, and cross-platform play. Football Manager 2023's PS5 version should support similar features once it releases.

Football Manager 2023 releases November 8 for Android, iOS, Mac, PC, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 version will release at a later date.
