The augmented reality game Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery has officially shut down as of March 14, 2024. The sad news was delivered on the official Five Nights at Freddy's Twitter account, bringing an end to the title after nearly five years.

Released in November 2019, Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery was an augmented reality game developed by Illumix, with the collaboration of Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon. The AR title placed the player in the world of hostile animatronics, with a storyline revolving around players subscribing to Fazbear Entertainment's brand new "Fazbear Funtime Service" only to receive animatronics with murderous intentions. The immersive experience challenged players to fend off waves of animatronics and stay alive for as long as possible.

The discontinuation of Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery began on February 3, 2024, with the removal of the game from both Google and Apple app stores, followed by the servers shutting down on March 14, 2024. The announcement of this decision came two days earlier. For players who downloaded the game before its removal from all digital platforms and storefronts, the game will not be playable, and a message will be displayed upon opening, thanking fans for their support. Developer Illumix also took to its Twitter account to show appreciation for the dedicated player base and to Scott Cawthon for his support in the game's development.

Before shutting down Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, Illumix delivered extra bonuses and incentives to players who tuned in for the final few days of the game's life span. The bonuses included a multiplier for rewards received during missions and the ability to purchase the Dark Circus DLC using Faz-Coins instead of real currency. Despite receiving a 4.5 rating on both the Google and Apple app stores, the game is no longer accessible, but at least fans will now have a brand new Five Nights at Freddy's game to look forward to as part of the 10th-anniversary celebration.

Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery was Illumix's first attempt at a game and the first mobile game of the franchise. The first reveal of the game came during a 2018 interview with Scott Cawthon. Although Cawthon didn't work exclusively on the game, a first in the franchise as well, he did collaborate on the game in some capacity. Popular content creator Markiplier had a small role in the game's development, serving as the spokesperson of Fazbear Funtime Service in the official launch trailer.
