DMZ is an upcoming new series based on the DC comic book series of the same name. This story will star Rosario Dawson in the lead role with Ava DuVernay set to direct as well as produce. The series is created by Roberto Patino but follows the comic books written by duo Brian Wood & Riccardo Burchielli.

DMZ is a dystopian series that will premiere on HBO Max this upcoming March. as she fights to survive and hold on to the people closest to her. The trailer reflects on her losing her family, searching for a child, and fighting to accept the new order of things. Viewers should expect a lot of action, cults, and of course a discourse on what it means to retain one's humanity.

The show will be an action-packed thriller, but it won't be as dark as other projects that typically fill this genre. Off the top, the cinematography and lighting look amazing. There are a lot of wide open scenery shots, a few shots with a large number of people as well as some cool CGI effects including one with a Jaguar that is eyeing down potential prey.

Those awaiting the upcoming live-action Last of Us series can use this show to fill the void while they wait as the set design does a good job at painting the effect of an apocalyptic world on society. Overgrowth of tall grasslands paint the streets, rusted cars litter the ground and there are many worn down buildings that occupy the city's landscape.

HBO Max is looking to become the top streaming platform with all the content they have. All the DC comic book shows, along with many classics, all the Warner Bros films and even the recent "same day" release format they've been implementing during the height of the pandemic last year has really made them a competitor for this era. Seeing how DC is growing their content beyond just Batman and Superman is very smart if they wish to have a chance at competing with Marvel.

Rosario Dawson is becoming a fan favorite talent that has a hand in Marvel, Disney and now DC. Whether she'll return to the world of Marvel is up in the air but with the role she has as lead Ahsoka Tano in the upcoming self-titled Star Wars series, it's safe to say that she'll be busy for a while.

DMZ is slated for a Mar 17 release on HBO Max
