A determined Diablo 4 player has reached the highest level possible for a character in Blizzard Entertainment’s newest ARPG game. This is the first Diablo 4 player to publicly stream the moment of hitting level 100 in the game.

Diablo 4 officially releases on June 6th, but players who pre-ordered the special editions of the game got to start their descent into hell a few days earlier. This gives those players a few extra days to get their characters up to level 100, with Blizzard confirming that it will take around 150 hours to get a character to level 100 in Diablo 4. But for one dedicated player, it only took a third of that time, and he did it before the game even officially launched.

YouTuber and Twitch streamer Rob2628 is now the first person to reach level 100 after grinding around 54 hours of playtime in the course of three days. Rob used one of the best Barbarian builds in Diablo 4 to achieve this milestone, focusing on the shout and whirlwind skills to get the job done. Ultimately, however, it wasn’t just the build he was using that got him to max level; he also used a known exploit in the game to supercharge the leveling process.

This exploit worked by getting a group together, going to a dungeon, and letting the lead player exit the group. This would then reset the dungeon, giving the group the opportunity to raid it again. This exploit allowed Rob and his friends to repeat the Champions Demise dungeon over and over, gathering giant amounts of xp in the process. The exploit itself has been removed according to the official Diablo 4 patch notes, so players looking to try this out for their own characters are out of luck.

Rob2628 may be the first person to get to level 100 in the game, but he didn’t do it on Hardcore Mode. Hardcore Mode in Diablo 4 means that if the player’s character dies in battle, that character is dead for good and can’t respawn. It’s the riskiest mode in the game and the race to see who can get to level 100 in Hardcore Mode is still on. Blizzard also announced that it is running an official contest regarding this achievement, as the first 1,000 players to reach level 100 on Hardcore Mode will have their usernames engraved on a physical statue of Lilith.

Diablo 4 is available now in early access, with its full launch coming June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
