Musou-style fighter Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes offers a wide variety of classes for its large playable cast. Many classic Fire Emblem classes return, including mythical beast-mounted Pegasus Knights and Wyvern Riders, magic-wielding Dark Knights and Holy Knights, and speedy Swordmasters. However, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes fans have noted the absence of several classes that appeared in previous title Fire Emblem: Three Houses. These popular classes could be added in the form of downloadable content.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes returns to the world of Fodlan, where the Adrestian Empire, Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Leicester Alliance vie for control of the continent. It features three playable routes, each with different characters, maps, and Supports. However, the classes that characters can access are generally standard across all routes, except for a few exclusive classes for units such as protagonist Shez or lords Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude. Adding new classes via DLC could encourage replaying the game and provide new options for exploring characters' combat potential.

War Monk/Cleric

The War Monk, aka War Cleric, is a class that debuted in Fire Emblem Awakening. The class was fairly unique as it could both fight physically with axes and use white magic to heal allies. Female members of this class are called War Clerics, while males are called War Monks. Despite the class's relative popularity, it did not appear in Fire Emblem Fates or the base version of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It was later added to the game via the "Cindered Shadows" DLC as the personal class of Balthus, a member of the Ashen Wolves - yet wielding gauntlets rather than axes.

This class would likely be easy to implement in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. War Cleric previously appeared in Fire Emblem Warriors as the advanced personal class of Lissa from Fire Emblem Awakening. It would make a good addition to Three Hopes, as there is currently only one Master Class that uses gauntlets - the War Master - which is limited to male units. Alternately, if the class used axes as it did in Awakening, it could be the only high-level infantry class with that weapon type.

Dark Flier

Another class added to Fire Emblem: Three Houses via the Cindered Shadows DLC was Dark Flier, a female-locked Pegasus class associated with fallen noble Constance von Nuvelle of the Ashen Wolves. Although Constance appears as a playable character in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, she specializes in Magic over Flying and her favored class is Gremory, a female-locked infantry mage. Pegasus Riders in Three Hopes have only a single Master Class option, the Falcon Knight, leaving their options fairly limited.

The Dark Flier would make for an incredibly unique addition to Three Hopes because of their movement-based skills. In Fire Emblem Awakening, where the class was introduced, Dark Fliers possessed the ability Galeforce, which allowed them to sometimes move and attack multiple times during one turn. In Three Houses, Galeforce was replaced with Canto, which allows multiple movements but not multiple attacks, but it was also given Transmute: a strong magical defensive ability. The class utilizes elemental magic and dark magic, making for a good magic master class in Three Hopes that currently only has Gremory as an option for females and Dark Bishop for males. Like Dancer, a Dark Flier's abilities in Musou-style combat could be based around increasing the unit's in-battle speed or number of attacks.

Hero

One surprising omission in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was the Hero, a class that has made frequent appearances throughout the series. The Hero is an infantry class that can use swords and axes in battle, and is generally considered a jack-of-all-trades among the physical classes. Like War Cleric, the Hero also made an appearance in Fire Emblem Warriors as the advanced personal class of the traveling swordsman Navarre from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. In Three Hopes, the Hero could be a mid-tier class or a Master Class that promotes from the Swordmaster. Hero would ideally be a counterpart to a Mortal Savant that focuses on defense and physical attacks over speed and magic.

So far, no DLC has been announced for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. However, as the game was positively received, DLC could be in the cards. Fans hope to see such DLC add new playable characters, battle maps, and classes. It could even add more story content focusing on characters such as the mysterious Arval or the fan-favorite Gatekeeper.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
