The tactical role-playing video game Fire Emblem: Three Houses dropped on the Nintendo Switch in July 2019. It is the 16th installment in the Fire Emblem series. The game was published by Nintendo and developed by Intelligent Systems.

The story unfolds on the continent of Fodlan and centers around the Garreg Mach Monastery. Byleth, the newest professor and a former mercenary, is who the player controls. At the school, there are three houses: the Blue Lions, the Golden Deer, and the Black Eagles. Each house contains various students; aside from that, there are many other different characters to meet in the game.

10 Dedue

Fire Emblem Three Houses Dedue

“I have heard that you rescued His Highness. Words cannot express my gratitude. Should you ever require my strength, please know that I will hasten to repay this debt.”

Dedue Molinaro was born in Duscur as a commoner. He is literally Dimitri's servant. However, Dedue feels in debt to Dimitri and therefore protects him at all costs (even his own life, if necessary). Although he is monstrous and quiet, Dedue is actually gentle and kind to others (unless they mess with Dimitri).

9 Sylvain

Fire Emblem Three Houses Sylvain

“Well, there's Dorothea, Hilda, and Mercedes. Lady Rhea's quite the beauty too. And I must admit, I've even checked out Professor Manuela once or twice. You know, Professor, I think I'm going to like it at the Officers Academy. There are beautiful girls as far as the eye can see...”

Sylvain Jose Gautier is the heir to Margrave Guatier, who rules a small kingdom near Garreg Mach. He is all about friendship, but also the ladies. The other students look up to him, like a big brother. This does not stop Sylvain from being a total womanizer, though. In fact, he has a big brother himself who was legitimately disowned because he lacked a crest (which Sylvain has).

8 Felix

Fire Emblem Three Houses Felix

“There's nothing to be gained from fighting someone not worth dueling, after all.”

Felix Hugo Fraldarius is the heir to Duke Fraldarius. While he comes off as a jerk on the outside, Felix is sarcastic on the inside. (Except when it comes to Dimitri, who bullied him when they were kids; so, he refers to him as a "boar"). Felix is a loner and wears this "long wolf" badge with pride. Also, he is slick with a sword and often challenges others to a match.

7 Lorenz

Fire Emblem Three Houses Lorenz

“Ah. You must be that renowned mercenary. Perhaps you'd like to join me for a cup of tea sometime. My name is Lorenz Hellman Gloucester. You will want to remember it.”

Lorenz Hellman Gloucester is the heir to Count Gloucester. He is a total snob, which makes sense as Lorenz is a noble. Also, he is just an all-around serious person with a lot of pride (too much). That being said, Lorenz has no luck with the ladies...but a miracle could happen.

6 Lysithea

Fire Emblem Three Houses Lysithea

“Aristocrats are fools—allowing their lives to be dictated by their Crests. Though...I suppose I am much the same in that regard...”

Lysithea von Ordelia is the daughter of Count Ordelia, and the oldest at that. But at Garreg Mach, she is the youngest of all the students (only 15 years old). Still, Lysithea is a prodigy when it comes to magic (especially the dark kind). She stays modest though and works hard. However, Lysithea is still a child and it shows (even though she does not like being labeled as such...even though Lysithea is afraid of ghosts...)

5 Hilda

Fire Emblem Three Houses Hilda

“I don't understand why anyone would want to risk their life for someone else. When you die, no matter how you died, it's over. To me, it's more important to enjoy life. We only live once, after all. It's a waste to spend all your time working and being responsible, right?”

Hilda Valentine Goneril is Duke Goneril's only daughter. Therefore, she is ridiculously pampered (even though Hilda has an older brother). She constantly shows this too, always slacking off and getting the other students to do things for her with her girlish charm. Hilda is easy-going and likes frivolous things, such as fashion and glamour.

4 Hubert

Fire Emblem Three Houses Hubert

“My only wish is to see Lady Edelgard fulfill her ambitions. All other matters pale in comparison.”

Hubert von Vetra is the heir to Marquis Vestra and the primary strategist of the Black Eagles House. He is cold...but reasonable. Ever since Hubert was a child, he served Edelgard. She is basically his entire life. Seriously, Hubert will explode anyone and everyone who stands between Edelgard and greatness with vicious dark magic.

3 Dorothea

Fire Emblem Three Houses Dorothea

“Oh my, you look like a wonderful person. Is this your first time at the monastery? Shall I show you around? Ah, my name is Dorothea. Before enrolling in school, I was in an opera company at the capital.”

Dorothea Arnault is a songstress and a popular one at that. She used to live and work at the imperial capital before studying at Garreg Mach. Dorothea looks up to Manuela; they both came from the same opera company in Mittelfrank. Within the Black Eagles House, she is the only commoner, and this makes her overcompensate often. Dorothea does not look at the other students (her friends) as above her though, treating everyone equally.

2 Petra

Fire Emblem Three Houses Petra

“I can read and understand the language of Fódlan, but speak it... gives me difficulty. I hope I will keep having your support. And I will give you my support too, with my whole heart. I have things that I cannot fail to accomplish.”

Petra Macneary comes from the Brigid Isles, west of Fodlan. She is the grandfather of the king over there. Petra was allowed to come study at Garreg Mach as a symbol of loyalty because the Empire and Brigid are on good terms with each other. When speaking, she says words funny because the language of Fodlan is not the same as back home for her.

1 Kronya

Fire Emblem Three Houses Kronya

“You're just a pathetic old man. How dare you get in the way of my brilliant plan...you dog.”

Kronya is from Agartha and one of the main members of Those Who Slither in the Dark. She seems kind and cheerful, but Kronya is actually evil and sadistic. She literally enjoys stabbing people...like Jeralt, for example. (Kronya smiled the entire time when killing him.) In fact, she refers to her enemies as "vermin," except when pleading for her life of course.
