Fans of the recent mainline Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem Engage, will be expecting the most recent DLC release, called the Fell Xenologue expansion pass, which will also likely be the last for the foreseeable future. The DLC will release on April 5, 2023, and will be the biggest wave yet, releasing with new playable characters, a whole new story, and even some new classes.

Classes are known to be the type of a unit, such as a flying type like a Pegasus Rider, or a Cavalry Type like a Paladin. Reclassing characters is an important mechanic in Fire Emblem games as it allows units to evolve and gain power. This DLC will grant players more options when it comes to what they choose for each character.

4 Mage Cannoneer

The first class that will be available to all units with the release of the Fell Xenologue is the Mage Cannoneer class. This class is quite peculiar and new to the Fire Emblem franchise as a whole, as it was never seen before Engage. This new class falls under the category of Armored class type. This means units using this class will be immune to breaking when attacked with a weapon that has an advantage over them based on the Weapon Triangle.

Mage Cannoneer is quite unique as it allows the unit to use a new weapon, called Magic Blast. This Magic Blast is a magic-infused Cannonball that can’t make follow-up attacks. However, it has an incredible range, from 3 to 8 tiles. One drawback to this is distance – the more the distance increases, the less accurate the hit is, which means the unit will have a high probability of missing their attack. This class will go perfectly well with any unit that has good magic and dexterity stat growth, such as Celine or Mauvier, to name a few.

3 Enchanter

Another class that will be added alongside the story of the Fell Xenologue and its new characters is the Enchanter class. Just like the Mage Cannoneer, it is a brand new class that anyone will be able to reclass in, not to be confused with Enchantress from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, which works in a completely different way. The Enchanter falls under the Qi Adept class type, which means it will be able to use Chain Guard to protect allied units.

Enchanter is an amazing support class that can be very useful on the battlefield. Its most interesting feature is, perhaps, the access to Convoy, which, until now, was reserved only for the main character of the game, Alear. Being able to access the Convoy by another means, other than Alear, is sure to come in clutch in battle. This class also grants Item Surge which means consumables will acquire unique effects, such as reflecting physical, or magical attacks, or even negative chain attack damage.

2 Melusine

Melusine is a class that will only be accessible to one character, Zephia, or Zelestia, as known in the DLC. Due to it being a class unique to Zelestia, the usage of this class will be limited overall. Previously, this class was unavailable to the players due to Zephia being an enemy unit. Now, this class can be explored by the player as they can use Zelestia, one of the Four Wings. This class is a part of the Flying Class type, and it’s quite similar to Ivy’s unique class, Lindwurm. Being a flying class means that it isn’t affected by Terrain and can cross tiles that might be inaccessible to other class types.

This class seems like it will be a powerful outlet in the DLC. Melusine gives Zelestia access to two weapons, tomes, along with swords. It also offers a unique class skill, named Soulblade, that's originally from Three Houses. With this passive skill, Zelestia's damage with a sword is determined by the average of the enemy’s defense and resistance.

1 Nel And Nil’s Fell Child Class

The Fell Dragon child is not a new class in Fire Emblem Engage, but with each character who has access to it comes a slight variation. The first character in the game who had access to it was none other than Veyle, Alear’s sister and Sombron’s child. This class was also seen being used by the Alear from the past. Falling under the Dragon category type, the Fell Child class allows for better usage of Engage attacks and skills.

Nel and Nil are the two newest additions with access to this class. For each of the dragon children, this class is a bit different. Veyle is granted access to knives and tomes, while past Alear could use swords. In this DLC, Nel can use Lances, while Nil utilizes Axes. In addition, Nel gets a special extra power – the ability to use Fell Spark and turn into a powerful dragon that uses breath weapons. Having more Dragon units available to the player will surely be an asset.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
