Nintendo and Intelligent Systems reveal the first paid DLC for Fire Emblem Engage that will be a part of the game's Expansion Pass. This content was recently revealed at The Game Awards 2022, which has featured a number of surprising announcements. This includes news about other upcoming Nintendo media, such as a clip of the upcoming Mario movie, the reveal of a new Bayonetta game, and more. Fire Emblem Engage was also part of the event, where it received a new trailer regarding its Expansion Pass.

Fire Emblem Engage is the next upcoming entry in the franchise, where it is focused on a brand-new gameplay mechanic known as the Emblem Rings. This allows for several protagonists from the mainline games to be summoned to a player's side, where they can assist in battle. These rings provide a new depth for the strategy gameplay, while incorporating these past heroes in a fun way. The first DLC will provide at least two new Emblems for players to use, based on other characters from the series past.

The first of these Emblem Rings to be shown off is based on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, joining Byleth's Emblem who is already a part of the base game. However, instead of just one hero, this Emblem provides all three house leaders, Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri as a singular Emblem Ring. This is even implied by a brief voice clip from Edelgard, stating that the three residing in the ring have been talking to each other for a long time. The trailer briefly shows off the Engaged form with this Emblem Ring, where they can use the heroic relics from Three Houses like Byleth.

The other Emblem Ring revealed will be the fire-breating manakete shapeshifter, Tiki from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. She is a classic character in the franchise and has made appearances in many spin-offs like Fire Emblem Heroes, Warriors, and even Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It seems players who are equipped with her ring will be granted the ability to transform into a dragon, much like the manakete, along with a special support skill.

This will be included in the first wave of DLC for Fire Emblem Engage's Expansion Pass, along with a few other additions such as a Silver card, support items, and in-game accessories. This will be available for players on January 23, which is the day of the game's launch. The other three waves will be releasing throughout the year.

Fire Emblem Engage is coming to Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023.
