The title screen and opening sequence of Fire Emblem Engage have recently surfaced online, where fans note how it is doubling down on the anime vibes in its theme song. This video shows off the new characters introduced in this game, along with the Emblem Rings, and how they are tied to the game's premise. With Fire Emblem Engage now only a few weeks from release, fans have been getting plenty of information before its launch regarding some key aspects of its gameplay and story.
Gaming press and other content creators on YouTube have been getting early access and previews of the game before its release, with many posting their findings about the game. This ranges from gameplay of the opening hours of the gameplay to some of Fire Emblem Engage's cutscenes. Dutch YouTube channel N1-UP also similarly got a hands-on preview of the game, with a set of videos showcasing some of the gameplay. One of the most notable videos posted on the channel is its opening, which has a theme song sung in English.
The video features both the male and female versions of Alear, meaning that this opening will always show up regardless of the player's choice. The opening starts with a shot of Alear descending into flames, before grabbing a ring, which then shows off four of its playable characters. This includes Alfred, Diamant, Timerra, and Ivy, who are all representative of the nations of Fire Emblem Engage's continent. Fans noticed that the English lyrics, in particular, line up with the geography and character descriptions when they appear as well.
The video continues, where Alear joins their four new companions as they continue their adventure, before cutting to a cutscene where Lumera, Alear's mother, joins them in a chamber. Rings of light then surround Alear, which show flashes between their present and past self, which teases how Alear was possibly evil and caused a lot of destruction in the past. It then cuts to a quick sequence of the characters all battling, with all five characters about to face off against the Fell Dragon.
The ending shot has Alear raise their Emblem ring to the sky before it falls to the ground as the theme fades out. The title screen is similarly low-key, where Alear calls out the title of the game, along with a slow circling pan around an inner chamber. Fans noted that the English theme song of the game went for a higher-energy anime opening vibe, while a version heard in one of the Japanese commercials is slower and more somber, possibly being a version saved for the ending credits.
Fire Emblem Engage will release on January 20 for Nintendo Switch.
