A recent poll conducted in Japan reveals who some of the most popular characters are from Intelligent Systems' Fire Emblem Engage. The game released last year to plenty of critical acclaim, acting as an anniversary title by pairing several returning Fire Emblem lords with a cast of new characters in order to defeat a great evil in the form of the Fell Dragon. While the initial response to some characters and their designs were less than enthusiastic, there were several characters that fans were excited to meet. This can be seen with a popularity poll that was held regarding the game. This poll comes from a Japanese magazine and first started taking reader responses starting in February, with the vote gathering going on for about two months. There were 39 different characters that readers could vote on, which included main character Alear and supporting units such as Princess Ivy, Alfred, and Goldmary. With the votes now tallied up, fans were given the rankings regarding the community's favorite Fire Emblem Engage character.RELATED: Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Heroes Cross Over in Hilarious Workout VideoThis poll and its results were taken from the long-running Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream (with translations and rank placements provided by Serenes Forest), with the top 25 characters being listed. According to Nintendo Dream readers, the most popular option was the player character themselves, Alear the Divine Dragon. Following them in the silver spot was Diamant the crown prince of Brodia, with the bronze medal being held by Alfred, the prince of Firene.

The top ten also consisted of some fan favorite characters, such as Yunaka, Alcryst, Celine, and even the Guardian Spirit Sommie, surprisingly enough. There were some other contenders that rounded out the other placements in the top 25, which include Etie, Lapis, Anna, and Chloe. Vander, the game's archetypical Jagen stand-in, rounds out the list at 25th place. Sadly, there were some characters that didn't receive enough votes to place within the top 25, including Timerra, Zelkov, and Rosado, which will likely be a slight disappointment to their fans.

Fire Emblem Engage released its fourth and final DLC wave earlier this month, known as the Fell Xenologue. It sees Alear meeting alternate versions of their allies and enemies, with the villainous faction of the Four Hounds being a focus. While these characters and other villains weren't included in this poll, there might be another one in the future that adds them in to see how popular they are now that the DLC has released.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
