Fire Emblem Engage gives players an excellent home base to return to between chapters and battles, known as the Somniel. The Somniel is filled with useful facilities and also offers players the ability to interact with the various units that make up their army in a more casual and less life-threatening setting.

One notable ally players will only encounter on the Somniel in Fire Emblem Engage is the Guardian Spirit. Their default name is Sommie, but players are able to name the Guardian Spirit whatever they wish when they first meet it, and it provides both moral and actual support throughout the game.

Where to Find Sommie

Fire Emblem Engage_Sommie Shrine

Luckily, Sommie is rather easy to locate on the Somniel, though they can't be encountered until chapter 4 is completed. Heading to the Grotto on the Southern End of the Somniel will reveal a shrine where Sommie can be found. Interacting with the shrine for the first time will trigger a scene with Vander that offers players some lore about Sommie and allows players to name it.

After this, players can find Sommie at any time by heading to the shrine, and Sommie will often follow Alear around the Somniel (though it can still only be interacted with by visiting the shrine.)

Interacting with Sommie

Fire Emblem Engage_Pet Sommie

When Sommie is visited at the Shrine, players have three interactions to choose from. They can feed Sommie, pet Sommie, or dress up Sommie. Feeding Sommie and petting Sommie will both reward Bond Fragments the first time they are performed per visit to the Somniel while also boosting Sommie's bond with the Protagonist. (Completing any form of battle, be they Skirmish, main story chapter, or paralogue, will refresh this.) Dressing up Sommie allows players to customize Sommie with various clothes and headpieces and change the color of their scarf.

The first time Sommie's Bond is maxed out, a new entry for Sommie will be unlocked in the Ally Notebook.

Sommie's Assistance

Strength Training in Fire Emblem Engage

Sommie can also assist players when taking part in various other activities around the Somniel, like Strength Training, Fishing, and Wyvern Riding. If Sommie is selected to join the player in any of these activities and their bond with the Protagonist is high enough, Sommie will provide assistance in the ensuing minigame.

For example, Sommie will help the player recover from mistakes in Strength Training, halve the starting strength of a Fish when fishing, and occasionally fire some shots of their own with sniper precision during Wyvern Riding. This can be very helpful in speeding up minigames or completing some of the harder difficulties.
