To get the most out of every run, players will want to engage in all the possible battles, even the optional ones. Chapter 6 contains the very first of many Paralogues or optional side quest battles that Fire Emblem fans can take partake in, and this battle can grant players a whole new playable unit. This new chapter also unlocks a whole bunch of other things to do in the safe haven and a brand-new story fight.

Two new NPCs are introduced at the beginning of Chapter 6: a blacksmith that allows players to upgrade their weapons and trade metals in for one another and a clothier that will open a Boutique in Somniel for players to change their unit's clothing and accessories. The Arena is now also unlocked; this location allows players to get XP for any characters that may have fallen behind. The last thing to open in this chapter is the Fire Emblem amiibo gazebo.

The First Paralogue Fight in Fire Emblem Engage at the Tea-Field Village

The First Paralogue fight is called Budding Talent. This battle allows players to get the martial arts healer unit called Jean. This unit, unfortunately, starts at level 1 in the battle, but he thankfully has Expertise, which means he'll level all his stats very quickly. Healing gives units XP, so Jean can follow around whoever has Fire Emblem veteran Celica's ring; her Resonance costs the user HP to use.

There are several friendly units in the upper parts of the map that need to be protected, but there are two healing units up there that provide support if one becomes injured. This is also where Jean is located, and players must speak to Jean with Alear to get him to join.

In order to get ready for this fight, players will want a grounded mounted unit with Sigurd's Emblem for extra movement speed to get to the yellow treasure square to the right of the party. Fire Emblem Engage's powerful magic user Celine is also a good unit to bring with Celica's ring, as she is great against the Corrupted units that flood the battlefield.

  • The yellow treasure location in the eastern part of the map is an Energy Drop, an item that upgrades a unit's strength +2 permanently in this 2023 Switch-exclusive game.
  • The yellow treasure square in the western part of the map is a Defense Tonic, a single-use potion that ups a unit's defense +2.

Winning this battle gives players a Surge, an attack Tome that always hits with a range of 1. Fire Emblem Engage players will also earn a Pure Water, which grants 7+ resist temporarily.

Fire Emblem Engage Chapter 6 Battle at the Mountain Settlement

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-7-e

For the first time, players will have to fight in the dark in this Base Level 6 battle. There will be several squares with hidden enemies, items, or terrain that players will not be able to see without lighting a torch, an illume staff, or bringing new unit Yunaka with her Shine power.

There will also be torches scattered around the battlefield, which any character can light. Yunaka with the Emblem powers of the returning Fire Emblem character Micaiah will automatically join the party at the beginning of the fight. She and Alear will be off in one corner of the map with all the other units to the far south of them.

After the darkness tutorial plays, the fight will start. Keep in mind that the enemies can snuff out the torches, so players will want to make sure someone has a light source; there are hidden enemies in the darkness, most of them with a range of 3, that can take out a unit without anyone knowing where the hits came from. Make sure to kill the hidden archer to the left of the main group quickly, taking their long-range bow for Etie the archer to use.

While there are no reinforcements in this fight, there is a pretty challenging boss battle at the end. This Fire Emblem boss unit, named Teronda, stands on a square that heals him at the end of every turn and gives him buffs like Unbreakable. He also has a resurrection stone and can do quite a bit of damage.

In order to win this battle, players will just have to move in close with everyone and take some damage while each taking a turn to smash as much HP out of this boss as quickly as possible. At the end of the battle, players will gain a Talisman, which grants one character a permanent +2 boost to their resistance stat.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for Nintendo Switch.
