Fire Emblem Engage's Chapter 18 has a story mission, two new Paralogues with the two returned Emblem Rings, and some updates to Alear's floating fortress called Somniel. Some of these battles can be extremely challenging, and players might want to know what to expect from this late-game chapter.

First, there are a few new things in item shops and armory. Players can now complete Leif's Paralogue and Sigurd's, getting their maximum Bond level as high as it can go. Not to mention a story battle that will bring Alear into contact with even more of the Fell Dragon's minions.

First Paralogue of Chapter 18 of Fire Emblem Engage: The Sage Lord

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-18-Walkthrough-06

This is Leif's Paralogue. In order to get his max bond opened up, players will have to fight him in a Paralogue battle. In the battle, there are four manned ballistas, several unmanned ballistas, and a slew of Armored Units. Thankfully, the ballistas have limited ammo, so players can just tank the hits until they run out. But, players will want to be careful of bringing flying units, and they will want several magic users for those Armored enemies. Most enemies are at pretty standard levels and have standard weapons. There are also some High Priests down by the ballistas with status staffs.

Leif is surrounded by Mage Knights and High Priests with status-related staffs like freezes, silences, and similar. Players will want to bring some physical DPS' to take this Emblem out. His powers are:

  • He has one Revival Stone.
  • Has slightly low resistance and defense.
  • Has a Magical Sword with range 1-2 with a high magic attack.
  • Has a Master Lance.
  • Leif has a lot of speed, so keep slow units away.
  • The combination of his three Emblem abilities is the biggest part of his fight; he has a great chance of critical damaging players' units while always using the best possible weapon. If he's taking advantage of the weapons triangle, he takes 7 less damage.
  • Keep an eye out for Vantage++; this allows him to counter before a player can attack when he's at low health.
  • His Emblem attack is the Quadruple Hit, which allows him to attack with one of each kind of weapon.

On Turn 3 of this battle, more enemies will begin to spawn. Thankfully, they are all the way in the southeast, giving players time to react. After turn 7 and turn 8 and more turns, even more units will spawn from the same place, so players will want to take out Leif as quickly as possible before even more attackers join the party.

The enemies, when player units get too close to returning Fire Emblem hero Leif, will begin blowing up the bridges, turning them into shoals. Players will move a lot slower through these, so try to be out of the way of these bridges, just in case.

Second Paralogue of Chapter 18 of Fire Emblem Engage: The Holy Knight

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-18-Walkthrough-09

Sigurd also has a Fire Emblem Engage Paralogue in this Chapter, so Alear will have to battle him to get his max Bond. Players have 12 units to take him on.

  • Enemies have B- and A-rank books, silver weapons, and some status staffs. There are some healing staffs mixed in as well. There are only two bow-wielders; most of the enemies are mages.
  • There are enemies in the bottom left that have multiple Revival Stones, and they drop a purse full of money.
  • There is a mini-boss that has to be defeated before the bridge to Sigurd drop; they have a Bolganone and a Meteor, a book with a 3-7 range. They have a Revival Stone, and they're sitting on a protection tile.
  • Sigurd is surrounded by Magic Units with Elwinds.
  • Sigurd has one Revival Stone, a massive amount of movement, and an additional attack for each space he moves. He is immune to freeze, and he still has override, which can hit enemies when they are in a row. Sigurd is also on a protection tile, but he will move off of it when engaged. His weapons are a little lackluster, but his lance can attack twice when he initiates combat.

As a warning, when players manage to put the bridge down, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War's Sigurd will summon 18 more units to help him. That is not a typo; Sigurd gets 18 more units late in the fight.

This battle becomes no joke; it was already going to be challenging with the mages surrounding him. Putting the bridge down makes Sigurd move toward the player's unit, but none of the extra units move with him. If players don't head north to engage the extra units, they do not move. Engage them at high risk.

The Story Mission of Chapter 18 of Fire Emblem Engage

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-18-Walkthrough-12

This story mission takes place on a boat being attacked by two other boats, which changes the way players will need to approach combat. Players will need to keep an eye out for several things.

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-18-Walkthrough-10
  • There are magic ballistas being manned by casters, one on each boat.
  • There are plenty of bow users and magic units on the western ship, so flying units like Fire Emblem Engage's Chloe should probably stay away.
  • Keep a lookout for the four flying units off of the four corners of the player's ship.
  • The eastern ship has mostly mages, sword users, lance users, and the named boss. There is one axe wielder with a crit weapon.
  • The named enemy that players have to kill is Abyme, who is a berserker. If her HP is at 50% or less at the beginning of combat, she'll get boosted crit chance. She also has a Revival Stone.
  • There is a second named enemy called Lindon, who is a mage who doesn't fight. He can be spoken to by Alear, Ivy, or Hortensia, and he will join the player's team. He is a missable recruitable Fire Emblem Engage character, and he comes with a Thoron.
  • Players have a Flame Cannon on their boat to help take out enemies that try to come aboard. Anyone can use it, and it has a large AOE that sets the boat's tiles on fire for one turn. This can be shot first turn to do a lot of damage to the magic unit on the western boat manning the ballista there.

There are two treasure chests at either end of the screen, with a thief to the northwest. There is a rowboat on which the thief can escape, so that will be the player's timer for grabbing that loot.

  • Left chest: Speedwing, which gives a unit +2 speed permanently.
  • Right chest: A Second Seal, which allows players of this tactical JRPG to change a unit's class to a class of the same tier.
