Fire Emblem Engage has a grand total of 26 chapters, so players who have gotten this far only have 10 more to go. The first of these is Chapter 17, called Serenity in Ruin. Players have been gathering allies and defeating Corrupted enemies all over the continent of Elyos, and the Divine Dragon Alear and their Emblem Rings are on yet another mission to clean up the world and get rid of the Fell Dragon's influence. To get through this chapter, players will need to complete the story mission, but there is also a Paralogue that players will want to take on.

Updates to Somniel in Chapter 17 of Fire Emblem Engage

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-4-e

Players will get access to a bunch of new items they can buy in the stores on Somniel. There are more steel ingots and an upgraded fishing rod in the Flea market, some new desert-style outfits at the boutique, and even more master seals at the items shop. There isn't anything new on the floating island, but players should still make sure to do their Support conversations,

The Paralogue of Chapter 17 of Fire Emblem Engage: The Azure Twin

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-17-Walkthrough-03

This Paralogue is suggested Advance Class level 8. Players will need to battle against Eirika with 12 units. Enemies in this Paralogue are:

  • Mostly advanced classes or high-level basic classes, all with silver weapons. There is a big mix of different types of attackers.
  • There are some Crit weapons out there, so keep an eye out for their yellow exclamation marks. There is one right by the starting location where players are standing.
  • There are large Dragon-like enemies. They have solid defense and resistance, large health pools, and a breath attack that has a range and ignores defense and resistance. There are impassable walls all around these massive critters, so players will need to plan on taking a few hints from them before being able to reach them.
  • The worst part of this fight is that all units have access to Sacred Twins, so every unit on the field will take five less damage and deal five more damage.
  • Eirika has high priests flanking her with freeze staffs, and there are also high priests in the treasure rooms with them as well.
  • There are thieves on both the left and right sides of the map, and they will start moving toward the treasure chests as soon as the battle begins.
Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-17-Walkthrough-01

Eirika herself is quite the opponent; she is active all the time, and she is standing on a protection tile that heals and gives her additional Avoidance:

  • She carries a rapier, a physical attack sword.
  • Eirika also has a Wind Sword, which is a magical sword with a range of 1-2. It does bonus damage against flying units.
  • Sieglinde has high physical attack and a bonus against Corrupted. Since there are no Corrupted, she most likely won't use this attack.
  • She has a Revival Stone, so she will have two health bars.
  • Since she can deal physical and magical damage, players must be cautious in taking her on.
  • She has Eclipse Brace+; when she attacks, she will deal additional damage based on the foe's defense and heals herself for half the damage she deals.
  • She also takes five less damage and deals five more damage, just like all the other units on the field.
  • She has a double attack -- her Engage attacks with Eirika and her twin Ephraim. But she cannot use this every turn.

This battle will not be easy; players will want to proceed slowly and with a lot of caution; the units in this Fire Emblem Engage Paralogue are no joke. If players are playing with permadeath on, be sure to save the game before starting this battle in case they need to restart from the beginning to save their units.

At the end of turn three, Eirika will spawn new units on the left side of the map to taunt players, and these extra knights will have some high physical attack stats.

After turn 4, more gryphon knights brandishing magical weapons will appear on the right side of the screen. These Fire Emblem Engage weapons have a range of 1 to 2, so keep an eye on these flying units.

When players get close enough to her and Eirika engages, several more units will spawn at the bottom of the screen behind her. Keep an eye out for the high priests here; they will freeze players' units every single turn. After turn 7, more enemy units will spawn as well as turn 8; enemies will keep spawning until Eirika is down.

There are two Fire Emblem Engage treasure chests in the bottom left and bottom right corners; if players get there in time, they will get the following:

  • Treasure chest left - A Second Seal, which helps players to change their Fire Emblem Engage Classes.
  • Treasure chest right - A Seraph Robe

The Story Quest in Chapter 17 of Fire Emblem Engage

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-17-Walkthrough-10

Players will have to once again take on Veyle and the Four Hounds of Fire Emblem Engage. And unfortunately, Veyle has a surprise for players: Ivy and Hotrensia's dead father is back to fight them. Players, therefore, have 6 bosses to defeat with their 12 units. Most of the terrain is on fire, which deals 10 damage to any unit starting their turn in it, and they tank a unit's movement. It can't kill a unit, but it can take them down as low as one HP.

  • Marni - has Emblem Roy - She has high defense and very low resistance. She has a Revival Stone, so players must kill her twice, most likely with magic users. Her sword reverses the weapon triangle, and her other sword does bonus damage to Dragons. She also has a smash axe. She also will have all of Roy's power, like Hold Out and Sink Below, which gives her additional levels, and the Blazing Lion Engage attack. Marni won't activate until players are in her range, but the units around her will if players get too close to her sphere of influence. When Marni because engaged in combat, Mauvier will also become active.

  • Griss - has Emblem Celica - This is the first time players are fighting Griss, so they might be a little in the dark about his powers. He has the holy Tome Seraphim from Celica, a recover staff, a Bolganone Fire Tome, which will be dropped upon death, and a Fortify, which recovers all allies within a 5-space radius, which will also be dropped upon death. He has a Revival Stone, high magic attack, and Celica's powers. He will lose a little HP every turn to deal an additional 3 damage; he can attack twice at 60% damage and use Celica's very dangerous Warp attack. This means he can heal a lot and has a massive area of influence.
  • Mauvier - has Emblem Micaiah, one of the lost Emblems in Chapter 10 of Fire Emblem Engage - He also has a Revival Stone. He has a little above-average defense and resistance. He has two magical tomes from his Emblem, Micaiah's Shine and Nosferatu, which can heal him and can deal a light magical attack. Along with these, he also has a Recover healing staff and a flame lance. Keep an eye out for his Great Sacrifice; he will heal everyone back up to full.
  • Corrupted Hyacinth - has Emblem Leif - This Corrupted unit has a purple Revival Stone, which means he will berserk after the Revival Stone is broken. He is Adaptable, which means he'll always counter with the best weapon he has. If his health is 50% or lower, he always attacks first. When he has a weapon triangle advantage, he will take five less damage. Try to use bows and magic against him; since he only has a Killer Axe with his low attack stat, a Master Lance with range 1-2 that strikes twice, and the Flashing Fish Art that gives him extra speed but also extra damage, he will most likely equip the Flashing Fist to get weapon advantage. This will give him extra damage. But watch out for Quadruple Attack. After berserking, he gets a weapon similar to a Crit Weapon but with 1-2 range.

  • Zephia - has Emblem Sigurd - She has a movement of 12 squares with Gallop+, which is a massive range of influence. Be careful of stepping into her sights; players can use this to their advantage by drawing her out of the way. She can also move three additional spaces after acting. But be careful because Momentum+ gives her a bonus to damage for each square she moved before combat. Zephia bares the Engage weapon Ridersbane with bonus damage against Cavalry and a magical sword called the Levin Sword. Override allows her to fight foes in a line, so don't stack units in a line to prevent her from using this. When she berserks, she gains a little more to each stat, immunity to freeze, and a new sword that gives her more resistance.
  • Veyle - has Emblem Marth - She is on a Fort, which gives her bonuses to her Avoidance, makes her unbreakable, and heals her each turn. Thankfully, she does not have any Anchoring effects, so she can be smashed off of her tile, and she will move when activated. Her weapons are a Rapier which is effective against Cavalry and Armored, Obscrurite, which is a very powerful Magic Tome; and a knife. Veyle has a purple Revival Stone, so she will berserk after her first life bar. Allies close to her deal more damage and take less damage because of Fell Protection. If she starts a fight, she gets additional Avoidance. Don't leave her at low HP because she will heal herself, and she can also heal off counterattacks. She also has Marth's 7x attack. After berserking, she gains additional follow-ups for breaking units and a new Sword with a bonus that doesn't matter to her.
  • Veyle has a Master Seal that she will drop.

  • Enemy units have silver weapons or are Magical Units with B-rank tomes. These are pretty standard enemies. There are a lot of them, however, so players will need to keep an eye on them to not get surrounded. There are a lot of heal staffs around, so be wary of those.
  • There is also 1 giant Dragon-like unit; like the other oversize units, these will move slowly, but they have quite a range with their breath attacks. They have a large amount of HP, so players should be ready to tank a hit from them.

During this battle in this tactical JRPG, be sure to avoid triggering one General until the first has been dealt with, and make sure to stay out of fire spots; players will want to take as little damage as possible in this fight. There are no treasure chests, and no additional units seem to spawn, so players can just focus on staying alive and slowly picking off the enemies.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for Nintendo Switch.
