Fire Emblem Engage's Chapter 16 is called Seaside Travels. Players dig deeper into Veyle's story, learn more about what happened to Hortensia's two retainers, Goldmary and Rosado, and what the Four Hounds have been up to since Alear escaped them. There is a new shop in the Somniel to check out that can tell units' futures and best Support allies. And on top of all this, players will have a story battle and a Paralogue to survive. But before Chapter 16 of Fire Emblem Engage can begin, players will need to catch up with all their allies in the Somniel, take on their Arena battles, and check out the shops.

Updates to Somniel in Chapter 16 of Fire Emblem Engage

Not much is new in Somniel except for Seadall. He has opened a fortune-telling shop by the pool on the floating island, and players can go get their and their teammates' fortunes read. Players just need to sleep in Alear's bedroom until it is nighttime, then head toward the pool to see him.

His advice might seem a little cryptic, but Seadall is merely trying to rank up everyone's Support with one another. When one person is thinking about another, like Fire Emblem Engage's Anna here is thinking of Alcryst, they will get an extra boost to their Support together when fighting side-by-side in the next battle. This extra boost will only last through the next battle.

The Paralogue for Chapter 16 in Fire Emblem Engage: The Crux of Fate

It's now Corrin's turn to have a Paralogue all to herself. Players will need to take on this Emblem to get her possible Bond ranking to the maximum. Players get eight units to take on this returning Fire Emblem hero, and they will want to pick carefully. There are some high-single-digit leveled promoted units with silver weapons and one with a Brave Sword; several units can also heal. Many of these enemies have money on them, so players will want to kill all of them to take their purses.

Corrin only has one Revival Stone and three weapons:

  • Wakizashi - a Bow Sword with a range of 2.
  • Dual Katana - Reverses the Fire Emblem weapon triangle. Slightly higher crit chance.
  • Yato - A very strong sword with a high-than-average crit chance.

Regardless of the difficulty level Fire Emblem Engage is on, she will also have access to her Engage powers, which include:

  • Dragon Vein - Allows Corrin to alter the terrain, like freezing squares.
  • Draconic Hex - If she instigates combat, the attacked unit gets a -4 to all stats with a slow recovery.
  • Pair Up - Prevents damage from Chain Attacks.
  • Quality Time+ - Restore 10 HP to adjacent allies.
  • Dreadful Aura - That foe and any foe within one space can't move for a full turn after being attacked.
  • Torrential Roar - Attacks three spaces in a row and turn them into water spaces that tanks Avoidance to anyone walking through them. She gets an additional space when the unit she attacks is a Dragon, like the Divine Dragon Alear.

Reinforcements will spawn once on turn 2. On turn 5, Corrin will light most of the wet tiles on fire, dealing damage to any units on these tiles. Once players engage with Corrin, she will make several water tiles across where players are standing; these spaces will take extra movement to get through.

The Story Quest in Chapter 16 of Fire Emblem Engage

In this battle, players will gain two new units: Rosado and Goldmary. Rosado will get the newly awakened Twins Emblem with Eirika and Ephraim; Rosado is a pre-promoted unit. He can use axes and spears, and he comes equipped with a Great Axe, a silver axe, and a spear. If a foe is male, he inflicts -20 to Avoidance.

Eirika's Engage Weapons is a Rapier with good crit that's great against Cavalry and Fire Emblem Armored units. While Eirika is active, he deals extra damage based on an enemy's defense. While Ephraim is active, that unit heals 30% of the damage dealt when starting the fight. Players can switch back and forth between the twins at will. Sacred Twins allows the user to use both twins' powers simultaneously.

Goldmary is a level 3 Hero, which is an advanced unit. She has a steel blade, a silver sword, and a spear. If her opponent is male and attacks, he has 20% less hit.

There is a house in the upper left-hand corner of the map that can be visited. But first, players will need to get around all the enemies.

  • There are two Corrupted Wyrms. These are huge enemies like the Phantom Dragons in Fire Emblem Engage's Chapter 15 Paralogue. They ignore defense and resistance with a breath attack that has a massive range.
  • Enemies have incredibly good weapons, and one even has a crit weapon. Look out for the yellow exclamation mark over this unit's head. There are few bow users, so flying units will be fairly safe here.

  • There is a unit to the south with a freeze staff. They are on a fort, so they most likely won't move.
  • There are two bosses in this stage; the first is the General unit Marni. Hurricane Axe, magic axe bonus flying, smash, steel great axe. She has very high physical attack with the Great Axe. She has a Master Seal and a single Revival Stone on her as well.
  • Mauvier is the other boss. He's a Royal Knight. He still carries his Flame Lance, a Steel Great Axe, and a Silence Staff. This boss is carrying a Spirit Dust to collect. Players should watch out for his range and overall pretty good stats. Mauvier also has two health bars with his one Revival gem.

At the beginning of the battle, water will flood the beach, making water tiles that ruin unit's Avoidance. Be careful of the water tiles when taking on this map. The tide will flood in and out every other turn, making many of the squares impassible. Anyone not on dry land will get their movement speed tanked to almost nothing.

On turn 4, a ruffian will appear, which will be the player's timer on the house in the upper left-hand corner of the map. Make sure to kill him before he reaches the house to protect the people inside and get the reward, which is a Recover. On turn 6, more enemies spawn over the forts. Taking out the two bosses will quickly end the map.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for Nintendo Switch.
