The fifteenth chapter in the new game Fire Emblem Engage sees Alear heading into the desert of Solm to recruit Seadall along with the Emblem Ring Corrin of Super Smash Bros fame. Players will also get another Paralogue in order to upgrade Emblem Byleth's possible Bond to maximum level.

Along with these story updates, players will also find that the shops in the Somniel will have some new items for them to peruse when they have a little free time. Overall, Chapter 15 has a lot of new stuff to take on in this tactical JRPG.

At the Sacred Tomb, players can upgrade Byleth's possible Bond level to max. Players will have to battle him, and this battle can be a challenge. The whole arena is surrounded by breakable crystals, and Byleth will break as many as he can. All the crystals players save from him will upgrade their rewards at the end of the fight. Kill all the units as quickly as possible to save as many of these crystals as possible. Enemy units will prioritize attacking the crystals over attacking player's units. Crystals can take two to three hits before breaking.

  • Up to two crystals broken: rewards are an Elixir and a Talisman.
  • Losing three or more crystals: a Talisman.
  • Losing half the crystals: no reward.

The enemies are Fire Emblem advanced classes or high level basic classes, many with silver weapons, a mage or two with Elwind, and other upgraded magic Tomes. There are very few lance-wielding enemies but a variety of all the other kinds.

There are two Phantom Dragons in the mix, and they are extremely dangerous. They have high HP and a breath attack that ignores the player's defense and resistance. These dragons move slowly, but they have a massive range. Their fire breath has a range of up to 4 squares. Someone with a lot of HP, a couple of healing items, and a lot of Avoidance will want to take these on. Returning Fire Emblem Hero Lyn's ability to make doubles can also be useful, as these can be used to safely bring the Dragons closer.

The Emblem Byleth himself is also here, and he's the hardest part of this whole fight. He is surrounded by silver weapon-bearing enemies with extra health bars via Revival Gems. The man himself has:

  • The Sword of the Creator, which does physical damage with the magic stat, and it has a special bonus against Dragons.
  • He also has the Vajra-Musti fist weapons, giving him an additional attack when he starts the fight; this weapon uses the lowest of all allied defense and resistance.
  • His last sword is a magical sword that is effective against Dragons and Cavalry.
  • Byleth won't move at the beginning.
  • He has three health bars.
  • His Avoidance stat is very, very high.
  • He has a 50% chance to turn his misses into hits.
  • Can give allies bonus strength.
  • He can't be moved with smash weapons.
  • He is on a protection tile that gives him healing, extra Avoidance, and makes him unbreakable.
  • He has Goddess Dance, which gives all allies within 1 tile more strength and an additional action. He can use this every turn.
  • He is flanked by two monk healers with Warps.
  • Two more enemies will show up either at turn 7 or when Byleth is engaged in battle. These new units will be warped by the martial artists on either side of Byleth, and they will b-line for the crystals.

The Story Mission in Chapter 15 of Fire Emblem Engage

Fire-Emblem-Engage-Chapter-15-Walkthrough-01

At the beginning of this Fire Emblem Engage chapter, players will see a cutscene with another recruitable unit named Seadall. He is a dancer unit blessed with the Emblem Ring of Corrin, and he is in some deep trouble. Without the help of the Divine Dragon and friends, he probably won't survive the Corrupted that have come for him. There are a handful of things to keep track of while fighting this battle.

  • Players will need to chat with Seadall with Fire Emblem Engage's Divine Dragon Alear to recruit him.
  • There are miasma tiles that, if players' units are standing in, lowers their resistance and defense. If a Corrupted unit is standing in the miasma spots, they get a boost to their defense and resistance. These can be cleared away with Corrin's Dragon Vein.
  • All the Corrupted are fairly basic units to begin with, but the additional hallways have better and better units as the level progresses. Most of the level is hidden to start with, and there are triggers for the next areas opening up.

Corrin has similar effect to Roy that reverses the Fire Emblem weapon triangle. Another of Corrin's powers allows Qi adepts, like Seadall, to have an Obstruct-type special effected called Dragon Vein; this clears away miasma tiles. When Engaged, Corrin can prevent target foes and all foes within 1 space from moving for a full turn. The Engage attack three spaces in a line, turning them into water spaces that reduce Avoidance by 30 when standing in them.

At the beginning of the fight, if the Fire Emblem Engage enemies called the Corrupted can't reach a player's allied units, they will start trying to break down the walls to kill Seadall. Once Alear speaks to him, the locked doors on the left side of the screen will open up and reveal a slew of new enemies. There are stairs and more miasma; clear these away and break down the door to the next hidden room. Units in that room will not move toward a player's party until that door has been broken down.

Here, players will find some enemy units with silver weapons and several mages. Keep any units with low resistance out of the way of these Fire Emblem Engage Magic units, and get through the tight hallway with care. There is a hidden hallway with a treasure chest toward the very center of the map with an Energy Drop inside.

The fourth hallway will have a lot more miasma tiles and a small handful more enemies, and even more miasma. Use Corrin to clear some of the purple smoke out of the way, then use her Emblem's powers to give other party members extra turns. In the final hallway, players will find a two-health-bar boss. There is a Talisman in the chest to the left of the boss' room. The level doesn't end until Seadall escapes, so players can kill all the enemies before getting that last chest.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for Nintendo Switch.
