A new gameplay video of the upcoming Fire Emblem Engage is focused on one of the game's new playable characters, Celine. Fire Emblem Engage was first revealed in a Nintendo Direct last month, with a brand-new trailer that highlighted several aspects of the game. This includes the reveal of the new members for the player's army and the protagonist, along with the integration of returning characters from past Fire Emblem games such as Marth, Sigurd, and more.

Alongside protagonist Alear, players can recruit a number of new characters into their army with their own unique classes in Fire Emblem Engage. Alear is representing the series' classic lord class, due to their nature as the protagonist, while uniquely also being a Divine Dragon. There will also be a neighboring kingdom that is known as Firene, with one of the playable characters being its princess, Celine.

Celine was briefly shown in the reveal trailer for Fire Emblem Engage, where she can summon the same past protagonists using special rings like Alear. She is the brother of Alfred, who is its prince. As member of Firene's royalty, this is reflected in her starting class, which is known as Noble. The gameplay clip shows that the Noble class is proficient in both swordplay and magic casting, similar to Robin's Tactician and Grandmaster classes from Fire Emblem Awakening.

In the aforementioned reveal trailer for Engage, Celine can be seen summoning the spirit of Celica to her side. Like with Alear, she can combine her powers with Celica's, gaining access to the Ragnarok spell. With the Noble starting class shared by her brother and gameplay demonstrations showcasing him leaning towards horseback and physical attacks, this possibly makes Celine more inclined to magic. She will likely be one of the more powerful light magic casters in Fire Emblem as well.

Another Fire Emblem Engage gameplay clip posted to Twitter shows her with a support conversation between her and Alear. The tweet notes her to be a beloved princess back in the Kingdom of Firene, thanking Alear for their assistance. Not only that, she notes that Alfred, asked for the Divine Dragon's help, and thanked them for accepting their request. She also mentions that she was "saved" as well, likely implying that players will be able to recruit Celine during a chapter where she needs to be rescued.

Fire Emblem Engage is coming to the Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023.
