Fire Emblem Engage is the latest title in Nintendo's popular RPG franchise. Set on the continent of Elyos, players take up the role of Alear, a divine dragon who has been awoken from a 1,000 year sleep to battle and ultimately defeat the Fell Dragon. Players will be utilizing new combat techniques including an all new Engage System to help restore order to the land.

In terms of gameplay, Fire Emblem Engage moves away from the more social and day-to-day management aspects of working in a school seen in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and instead focuses in on the tactical, turn based combat the franchise has been known for. One of the biggest changes, however, is the inclusion of Emblem Rings, which essentially allow players to summon iconic Fire Emblem characters from past games in the series and inherit skills and abilities.

Naturally, Fire Emblem Engage also features a number of new mechanics and resources to manage, adding a layer of complexity to gameplay. Players will also want to be on the hunt for a resource called SP, though acquiring it can be a bit of a painstaking process. Here's how to essentially farm SP in Fire Emblem Engage.

What are Skill Points (SP)?

Skill Points are a highly important currency in Fire Emblem Engage, as they're spent on inheriting a skill from various Emblems. This allows players to use skills without first needing to equip the necessary Emblem Ring in order to use it. As powerful as this can be for players who want to build out a unique party of characters, it can also be quite costly and require a lot of grinding as SP isn't given out in great numbers.

How to Earn SP

In order to acquire SP in the first place, players will need to participate in a battle with an Emblem Ring or a Bond Ring equipped. Units whon deal the killing blow gain an increase to SP and if the enemy was a boss, named, or more difficult enemy, even more SP will be granted.

Bond Rings can be forged at the Somniel Ring Chamber using 100 Bond Fragments, with the rarer Bond Ring giving a bigger boost to SP gain. However, Emblem Rings offer a greater amount of SP, so players are advised to use those when possible. When equipped during battles, an Engage meter gradually fills over time and once full, players can merge abilities with the Fire Emblem hero inside for 3 turns. Using Engage often is another great way to generate SP. Blue spaced on the battle map will also fill the Engage meter instantly, so players will want to find these zones and occupy them as soon as they can for another SP boost.

How to Farm SP in Fire Emblem Engage

While the process of gaining SP can be a bit on the slow side, there is a method that can generate large amounts of SP rather quickly. This method can't be utilized until players reach Chapter 6 in Fire Emblem Engage where players gain access to Emblem Ring Micaiah after working with Emblem Ring thief Yunaka. While Micaiah may not be a top tier choice compared to some other Emblem Rings, her Engage Attack called Great Sacrifice is how players can really start to farm SP.

Essentially, Great Sacrifice reduces the unit she's worn by to just 1, restoring the HP of all other allies units and even those not under player control. However, the kicker to this Engage Attack is that it also generates SP based on how much health was healed up to a total of 150 per battle. While that's a nice bonus on top of normal SP generation during battles, there's a way to further optimize this strategy for even more.

Emblem Ring Celica comes with an Inheritable Skill called Favorite Food at Bond Level 8. Using this instantly fills the Engage Meter which means Great Sacrifice can be used again, potentially doubling the bonus from 150 to 300 SP. However, to best utilize this strategy, players should use it in Skirmishes especially those with Silver Corrupted enemies as they grant bonus SP for each kill made. Therefore, players can send out units to get them close to death and then use Great Sacrifice to restore their health and gain the bonus SP. Repeat the process and then use Favorite Food to be able to use Great Sacrifice once more. It's also worth having 1 or 2 powerful units in reserve to clean up the rest of the enemies to actually complete the Skirmish mission.

Finally, for players who want an easier solution at the cost of slightly lesser SP gains, farm skirmishes by using the auto-battle option. Units that have an Emblem Ring equipped will gain SP automatically after the battle and can be sent out as much as the player needs.
