Fire Emblem Engage is a recent installment in the Fire Emblem franchise that’s exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the Fire Emblem franchise were treated to some iconic old characters who made a return in Engage through a new system that is referred to as Emblem Rings, and, in the case of DLC characters, Emblem Bracelets.

The Emblems confer great power to any unit they’re synched with – providing Engage skills as well as stat boosts that are game changers on the battlefield. Another thing these Emblems can offer is weapon engravings, which can be done at the Blacksmith in the Somniel. However, some of them are certainly superior to others and can make a weapon extremely powerful.

7 Marth

Close up of Marth in Fire Emblem Engage

Marth is the very first Fire Emblem protagonist, dating back to Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light, and is in Engage as the Emblem of Beginnings. He is the very first ring that the player will receive access to and is a perfect combo to have with the main character Alear.

When it comes to his weapon engraving, the Engraving of Beginnings, he is, overall, one of the most well-rounded ones. He provides a +1 in Might, +10 for Hit and Critical, as well as +5 in Avoidance and Dodge. Using his engraving comes with no downsides so one can’t really go wrong with him.

6 Leif

Leif is the main character of the game Thracia 776 but he also appeared in the Genealogy of the Holy War, making him the Emblem of Genealogy in Engage. He is first acquired by the player during chapter 8, before being stolen and, later, retrieved again.

His engraving, the Engraving of Genealogy, comes with little setbacks, but mostly only advantages. The weapon that his engraving is used on will receive +1 in Might, +20 in Hit, and +10 in Avoidance. On the other hand, it will also cause the weapon to get +1 in weight which is the only downside of this.

5 Lyn

Lyn in Fire Emblem Engage

Lyn, by her full name Lyndis, is a wildly beloved Fire Emblem character from the game The Blazing Blade and she is one of its three main characters, alongside Hector and Eliwood. She is referred to as the Emblem of Blazing in Engage. She is acquired thanks to Ivy, during chapter 11 of the game.

Lyn’s engraving, the Engraving of Blazing, is amazing but, unfortunately, makes the weapon’s attack weaker. Indeed, it will cause the weapon to have -3 Might but, on the bright side, will reduce its weight by 3, as well as grant a huge critical boost of 20. It will also grant an increased hit of 40.

4 Camilla

The Eldest Princess of Nohr from the game Fire Emblem Fates, Camilla, appears in Engage as the Emblem Of Revelation in the second wave of DLC. She can only join the Emblem roster after the player completes her Divine Paralogue - The Doting Sister.

Camilla’s engraving, the Engraving of Revelation, sees itself giving a huge critical boost to any weapon, an additional +30 to be specific. It also increases the weapon’s Might by 1. On the downside, it increases the weapon’s weight by 1 and hinders the unit by giving a -20 in both Avoidance and Dodge.

3 Edelgard

Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard in Fire Emblem Engage

The Emblem of Rivals holds three characters inside of it, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude, who are the Three House Leaders from the previous mainline title, Three Houses. This bracelet is acquired after the purchase of the DLC without having to defeat any specific battle and is one of the most powerful in the game.

The Engraving of Rivals is also extremely useful. It increases the weapon’s might by 1 and grants +10 when it comes to Hit, Critical, and Avoidance. It's only negative is a slight increase in weapon weight by 1.

2 Byleth

Byleth is the professor at the Officer’s Academy and the main character in the game Three Houses. In Engage, he is referred to as the Emblem of the Academy. Byleth joins the game a bit later, during chapter 14 in the Solm area, and is, perhaps, one of the most useful rings in the entire game.

The Engraving of the Academy provides bonuses in almost all the criteria. The biggest downside is the +2 in weapon weight, but on the other hand, it gives a weapon +30 Hit and Dodge, as well as +10 in Critical and Avoidance.

1 Corrin

Corrin

Corrin is the main character of her own game, Fire Emblem Fates. Her fate is determined by who she sides with in her game, and in Engage, she’s known as the Emblem of Fates. She first joins the story of Engage in chapter 15, alongside the game’s dancer, Seadall, and she possesses many useful abilities, such as Dragon Vein.

To start with the setbacks of the Engraving of Fates, it reduces a weapon's Might by 2. On the flip side, it grants the highest critical increase alongside the Engraving of Revelation of 30. Added to that is the +30 boost in Dodge and +10 boost in Avoidance, and all that makes it one of the best engravings.

Fire Emblem Engage is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
