Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide offers many new weapons, gear, and accessories for Clive to equip and use. Like with all Eikons, he'll get a sword that takes inspiration from the Eikon, in this case, Leviathan.

While this is the expected additional weapon to the DLC, there is also the Tonberry Knife. Fashioned from the knife of a large Tonberry, this weapon lets Clive wield the weapon of the iconic Tonberry, with one of the surprisingly highest stats in the game.

How To Get The Tonberry Knife

The Player Crafting The Tonberry Knife

The Tonberry Knife is forged from the blacksmith in Haven, and will first require players to progress through the story of the DLC. Upon reaching the Aire Of Hours, players will come face to face with the Master Tonberry. After defeating this enemy and finishing the dungeon, the Tonberry Knife will be a craftable weapon.

To actually craft the weapon, players will need one Notched Tang, one Aqueous Membrane, two Orichalcum, and two Fools Gold. Notched Tang can be obtained by finding and defeating the Tonberry King. Aqueous Membrane is found by defeating the Thalaos. While there are a few ways of obtaining Orichalcum, one is obtained by completing Reign of Pain, and another from Lost In The Woods, both required quests for the previous two items. Fools Gold is obtained by defeating the Master Tonberry, while another is found in a chest in Father's Fell.

How Strong Is The Tonberry Knife

The Player With The Tonberry Knife Equipped

The Tonberry Knife may not have a very high damage compared to other swords players can use at this point in the game, but does have the highest Will damage of any weapon in the base game, by a very large margin. The next closest weapon in terms of Will damage is the Omega Weapon, clocking in at 410 Will damage, while the Tonberry Knife deals 700 Will damage.

While not as much damage will be done during an initial fight, players will see a staggering difference in how often an enemy's Will depletes, which greatly helps against some of the more difficult enemies in the game. For those who like to prioritize Will damage, this weapon is an excellent option to carry over into Final Fantasy Mode. Compared to the Ultima Weapon obtained towards the end of Final Fantasy Mode, this weapon matches its Will damage and is a worthwhile option for the entire playthrough for some.
