The Summer Game Fest announcement that the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is releasing in early 2024 has given credibility to some other Final Fantasy franchise leaks. The Final Fantasy franchise is one of gaming's longest-running and most successful. It's Square Enix's flagship franchise, so it's no surprise that the Japanese gaming giant has many more Final Fantasy projects waiting in the wings.

Later this month, Final Fantasy fans will get their hands on Final Fantasy 16, which looks to combine a more action-oriented combat system with a return to the series' medieval fantasy roots. Time will tell if Final Fantasy 16 lives up to the hype or not, but in the meantime, franchise fans have even more to look forward to in the months ahead. The next big Final Fantasy game after Final Fantasy 16 is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which we now know is set to launch early 2024.

Previously, Square Enix had said that the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date would be in 2023. However, it was given a early 2024 release month at Summer Game Fest. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth slipping to 2024 was leaked before the announcement by Resetera user Im A Hero Too, who has accurately leaked other gaming news in the past. Besides claiming that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would release in 2024, they also said that Square Enix has "maybe 2 dozen games" in development for release between now and 2025. This would include the previously-leaked Final Fantasy 9 remake, a Final Fantasy Tactics remake/remaster, new content for Final Fantasy 14, and more.

Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Evidence

Of course, Final Fantasy fans should still take this information with a massive grain of salt, but it's worth pointing out that the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date delay announcement isn't the first time that Im A Hero Too claims have been validated. They previously hinted that the Persona 3 remake would be announced at the Xbox Showcase on June 11, and now that has more or less been confirmed by Atlus itself.

Atlus accidentally leaked two Persona games recently, one being the Persona 3 remake and the other being a tactical spin-off of Persona 5 called Persona 5 Tactica. The trailers that Atlus leaked only mentioned PC and Xbox platforms and confirmed that both games would be releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass. Needless to say, this is a strong indication that the games will be featured at the Xbox Showcase on June 11, as previously teased by the leaker.

This isn't the first time that we've heard about a potential Final Fantasy 9 remake or a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, but fans should keep their expectations in check until an official announcement comes from Square Enix itself.
