Industry insider Jeff Grubb has addressed some of the recent claims people have been making about the long-rumored Final Fantasy 9 remake. Final Fantasy fans first caught whiff of a potential Final Fantasy 9 remake when it was named in the massive Nvidia GeForce leaks. Square Enix has yet to officially announce the game, but since so many other games listed in the leak have turned out to be real, it seems like just a matter of time until the project is announced.Since the Final Fantasy 9 remake leak, various insiders have chimed in on the game and what it may entail. But until Square Enix itself decides to reveal more information, all fans can really do is speculate about what the Final Fantasy 9 remake will bring to the table.RELATED: Final Fantasy 16 Fans Spot Grim FF 9 Easter EggIt seems some fans hungry for more information on the Final Fantasy 9 remake have been spreading inaccurate information about the game. A recent Reddit post claimed that insider Jeff Grubb revealed details about the Final Fantasy 9 remake combat system, saying it would be turn-based like the original game as opposed to something more action-oriented like Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, Grubb didn't actually say this, and has now taken to Twitter to set the record straight. In his tweet, Grubb reminded fans that the only thing he's claimed about the Final Fantasy 9 remake is that it's real.

Since other Square Enix projects named in the big Nvidia leak turned out to be true, it would be more surprising if the Final Fantasy 9 remake wasn't real at this point. So, the only question is when Square Enix is going to reveal the game. The company just launched Final Fantasy 16 last month, and the next big FF game on the horizon is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, scheduled for a 2024 release. Considering this, it would make the most sense for Square Enix to announce the Final Fantasy 9 remake at some point after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's launch, but it could always happen before then as well.

The same Nvidia leak that revealed the Final Fantasy 9 remake also claimed that Square Enix also has a Final Fantasy Tactics remake or remaster in the works. That project hasn't been given an official announcement yet either, but like the Final Fantasy 9 remake, that should just be a matter of time.

The Final Fantasy 9 remake is rumored to be in development.
