Square Enix recently shared concept art of Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s young Tifa’s Western-style outfit. It has been two years since the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and players are still discovering new details about its beloved female protagonist Tifa.Tifa Lockhart is a Final Fantasy character who made her debut in one of the series' most popular entries, Final Fantasy 7, back in 1997. The shy yet spunky girl is a member of Avalanche, an organization fighting to put an end to mako energy being exploited by the Shinra Electric Power Company, and the owner of the bar Seventh Heaven located in her hometown Nibelheim. She doesn't just serve specialty drinks at the Cosmo Canyon and Seventh Heaven, which Final Fantasy fans can create Tifa's drinks with a replica of her cocktail shaker, but also serves up looks in an outfit fitting for her business.The official Japanese Final Fantasy 7 Remake Twitter account shared the concept art of young Tifa in an outfit inspired by the Old West. The images consist of screenshots from the original Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy Reunion. Young Tifa wears a cowgirl hat and boots, and Western-style clothing with fringes paired with black gloves.
Final Fantasy fans noticed that young Tifa’s outfit is censored in the modern games after viewing the concept art and screenshot from the original Final Fantasy 7 side by side. Some people are calling for the removal of the black garment covering the v-neck in young Tifa’s top. It is unclear if there is enough outrage over this decision that it will be removed, but there may be a chance considering Square Enix decided to remove censorship in Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster regarding partial nudity and fantasy violence. However, many Final Fantasy fans expressed that they still find her outfit cute and that the cowgirl outfit suits her appearance.
It is pretty cool for Square Enix to share how young Tifa and her cowgirl outfit changed throughout the years, although the remakes may not stay as faithful to the originals. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may create multiple timelines that diverge from the plot of the original games. There is little to be known about the upcoming game other than what was shown in its trailer, but players might experience the timelines through Cloud’s memories and other characters' perspectives.
