Final Fantasy 7 Remake is now available, the new take on one of gaming's most popular classics. Much has changed in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, whether it be the game's visuals, its combat system, or even its story. Final Fantasy 7's summons are one example of how things have changed, with some old summons not making the cut and some new summons being added. For those curious which summons are missing, there's now a full list.

To be fair, comparing the two games' summons isn't exactly fair, as the original Final Fantasy 7's summons are spread throughout its full game. Final Fantasy 7 Remake represents just a portion of that original story, but features a robust selection of summons. It's just one chapter in a bigger story, but it's also a full game in and of itself.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake does manage to keep from going too overboard with its summons. It could very easily have included any number of summons, including those from Final Fantasy 7's endgame. That they didn't shows a remarkable amount of restraint, as there's little doubt fans of the series would have loved to have seen Knights of the Round or one of Bahamut's other forms. Those will have to wait for Final Fantasy 7 Remake's second or third episode, it seems.

Here are all of the missing Summon Materia from Final Fantasy 7 Remake:

Alexander

Bahamut (Neo)

Bahamut (Zero)

Hades

Knights of the Round

Kujata

Master Summon

Odin

Phoenix

Ramuh

Titan

Typhon

For those curious which summons are in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, there's only a handful. Final Fantasy 7 Remake's summons include Ifrit, Chocobo & Moogle, Shiva, Fat Chocobo, Leviathan, and then Bahamut. There are also three pre-order and version exclusive summons, as disappointing as that might be. Those are Chocobo Chick, Cactuar, and Carbuncle, which are new to Final Fantasy 7 entirely.

There will be fans both excited and disappointed with Square Enix's decisions regarding summons in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. After all, the first summon players get in Final Fantasy 7 isn't until players reach the Chocobo Farm, after the Midgar storyline. If Square Enix hadn't put any summons in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it would make sense. This way, Final Fantasy 7 Remake features at least some summons and they're the summons people would expect from the start of a Final Fantasy story. The big guns will have to wait until later.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PS4.
