A new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake aired during the Game Awards, and Square Enix has followed it up with a bunch of new screenshots. Never shy about releasing screenshots, Square Enix has dumped another 20-plus Final Fantasy 7 screenshots for fans to marvel at while they wait for the game to come out in a few months. The images depict a variety of things from re-imagined locations, to characters and gameplay.
The batch starts with a set of new re-imaged Key Arts for story-driving characters Tifa and Sephiroth. Tifa's key art re-imagines the famous scene from the original game where she sits and stares up at the night sky while thinking back to her childhood in Nibelheim. Sephiroth's re-imagines the iconic moment where he walks into the fire consuming Nibelheim. There are other looks at Sephiroth here as well, one of which fans will recognize from a previous screenshot dump, and another that sees Sephiroth standing inside the Shinra Corporation.
The Shinra Corporation itself also gets a new look for both its members and headquarters. The images explore President Shinra, his right-hand man Heidegger, and even a brand new character: Roche. A 3-C SOLDIER member hated by his peers, Roche also goes by the moniker Speed Demon and loves having a good race. Fans should expect him to be one of the bikers Cloud faces off against in the Motorcycle Dueling side-activity. As for the headquarters, players get a look at its towering exterior and even some of the interior floors, such as the expansive entrance hall, car display area, and relaxation floor, where players can supposedly unwind.
Another re-imagined location displayed by the images happens to be the Train Graveyard. In the original Final Fantasy 7, players journeyed through this train yard in silence, as the characters had no interactive sequences, but the remade Train Graveyard will be different. In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the Train Graveyard will feature new story elements and moments between characters such as Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith as they explore the once lively wreckage.
Speaking of Aerith, she gets a set of screenshots all to herself, ones that show off how she'll play in-game. By pressing the square button, players can chain together a string of long-ranged spell attacks that can hit multiple enemies. Aerith's triangle attack uses her special move, Tempest, something that will repeatedly explode enemies when charged up fully. She also has abilities that let her drain magic from opponents and project harmful shields.
Finally, keeping in line with gameplay, players get another look at Shiva, a Summon character who can drop glaciers on enemies through Heavenly Strike, and freeze and shatter them with her ultimate ability, Diamond Dust.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch on March 3, 2020, for PlayStation 4.
