Square Enix is in full swing on development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 and it looks like there are some big plans for some of the new faces that premiered in March. However, this also comes alongside news that some of these new characters were originally intended to have a bigger roll within the remake's first installment.
This new Final Fantasy 7 Remake news comes from early released information from a Famitsu interview with some of the developers working on the game, including Tetsuya Nomura and Motomu Toriyama. The interview is slated to release on July 22nd, and will include up to fifteen pages of insight on plans for part 2 as well as the development process for the already released installment.
One quote in particular focuses on the brand-new character Roche, and his roll both in the initial installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well as plans for where to take the character next. While it isn't completely confirmed that he will be making it into the next part, Writer Motomu Toriyama has suggested that there is a good chance that players will have another chance to duel the chaotic biker in the next part. This goes fairly well in line with how the character is presented in the sections that he's appeared in already, where he makes it clear that he intends to become a rival for Cloud.
Roche is also mentioned at another point in the interview, which implies that the character was meant to have a larger role in his first appearance. After suggesting what players should expect in part 2, it is mentioned that there was supposed to be a second boss fight in Final Fantasy 7 Remake's 14th chapter. Seeing as how this was the most open chapter in the game, with a number of the best boss fights in the game, this likely would have been a great place to include another round, or even an optional motorcycle section.
Considering the impact Roche has already made on the community, there is certainly an audience that would appreciate more time with the new rival. While players may have approached Final Fantasy 7 Remake in different ways, with some loving the motorcycle chase and others hating it, the character is at least entertaining enough to gain some favor among fans. Of course, if part 2 is still trying to stay as close to the original as the first part did, it's fairly unlikely that a chase is coming, so players will more than likely be seeing Roche on foot from now on.
