Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans were thrilled to see the game shown at February's State of Play presentation, especially since that showing introduced a ton of new features. Amidst all the amazing things shown, Sony took a good amount of time to show the game's PS5 upgrade and even gave it a release date. Starting June 10th, 2021, players will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version and gain a host of benefits as a result, not the least of which being increased frame rate and resolution. The best part about all of this is that the PS5 upgrade is completely free to anyone that owns the PS4 version.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake released in April of 2020 to critical acclaim, and now almost a year later fans are getting an upgraded PS5 version. The State of Play also went into great detail about a new episode featuring none other than Yuffie, new features like the photo mode, a new difficulty setting, and more.

On June 10th, 2021, all players that own the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. As expected, this will come with dramatically better graphics, frame rate, and loading times when compared to the standard PS4 edition. The trailer showcases the difference between the PS5 and the PS4 Pro in terms of textures, fog effects, and lighting, and the improvement is clear as day to see. Later on in the trailer, the loading time is also shown to be much faster, meaning players will be able to get back into the action quicker now.

In the quality-of-life section of the trailer, fans get to see two new ways to run the game. Graphics optimization mode will focus on keeping the game running at a beautiful 4K resolution, while performance optimization mode will instead help to maintain a smooth 60 FPS. This update alone is enough to make players want to play through the game all over again, as the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake was capped at 30 FPS and 1080p resolution (1680p on PS4 Pro).

As if this wasn't enough, the PS5 upgrade will also let fans explore a new episode featuring Yuffie, a ninja that fans of the original will already be familiar with. Gameplay can also be paused at any time in order to enter photo mode, allowing players to take pictures of the newly updated scenery. All of this will be available starting June 10th.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now for PS4 and on June 10th, 2021 for Ps5.
