Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth exceeded fan expectations at nearly every turn, delivering a compelling twist on some of the original’s most revered characters, events, and locations. While the title’s major lore implications and alternative timelines take center stage, Rebirth’s take on one of Final Fantasy 7’s most memorable locations, the Gold Saucer, stands as a remarkable two-part set piece. The Gold Saucer also grants fans a reprieve from the emotionally heavy chapters that surround it, and the series’ unique narrative style provides ample opportunity to make the Gold Saucer just as special on a second visit in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Gold Saucer is initially introduced as a place for the party to blow off steam, with the location’s various Squares offering fun and challenging mini-games for Cloud to complete. Players can race, brawl, and battle in a range of thrilling set pieces, or continue their rise as a Queen’s Blood champion. However, the location also offers some truly emotional moments between Cloud and other members of the party, such as the date he can attend with a party member at the Loveless Theater. In Remake Part 3, the Gold Saucer likely won't carry such narrative weight, but it may still hold a few surprises for returning fans.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Can't Leave Part 1 Too Far Behind

If Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is an even greater improvement over the first game, Part 1 may be at risk of irrelevance, and it can't afford to be.

Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 Could Feature a Revamped Gold Saucer

Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 has a variety of options, should it hope to make players’ visit to the Gold Saucer just as memorable as those found in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. While the conclusion of Rebirth introduced a host of timeline-crossing possibilities, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 could easily reintroduce a new and improved Gold Saucer based within the former’s core reality. To find an explanation for these changes, fans would need to look no further than to the location’s flamboyant owner, Dio.

Final Fantasy Remake Part 3’s Gold Saucer could feature brand-new mini-games, and see players explore 6 completely re-designed Squares over the course of their visit. Following the climactic events of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, perhaps Dio saw fit to revamp the location. While this could be explained away as a “much-needed change”, it's also possible that the events of Rebirth made major renovations necessary. On various occasions, Dio was embroiled in the party’s conflict with the Turks and Shinra. It’s possible that some sort of retaliation toward Dio, enacted upon his prized entertainment center, would necessitate a major overhaul, or the construction of a new Gold Saucer altogether.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Could Feature an Alternate Gold Saucer

The final act of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth saw multiple characters cross the lines of reality and make contact with strange and unique alternate realities. In Final Fantasy Remake Part 3, these timelines could give rise to an alternate Gold Saucer. This alternate location could house a variety of new mini-games, characters, and objectives, as well as some surprising reveals for alternate iterations of key characters. While the nature of alternate realities could give rise to an endless array of Gold Saucers, one Rebirth plot point offers a compelling twist for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.

During fans' second visit to the Gold Saucer, they are dragged into a conflict between Dio and Don Corneo over the future of the Gold Saucer. The winner gets ownership of the venue and naming rights. While Rebirth sees Dio retain ownership, Remake Part 3 could explore a reality where Corneo wins the tournament. In this reality, Cloud could find himself in Corneoland, an entertainment venue completely redesigned by Don Corneo housing several strange, and likely shady, mini-games to complete.

It’s possible that fans won’t have to wait very long before news surrounding Final Fantasy Remake Part 3’s locations begins to circulate. While the title is likely a few years away, developer Square Enix has suggested that the time between Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s release and that of Remake Part 3 will be shorter than expected.
