By and large, any Final Fantasy fan should be able to jump into Final Fantasy 7 Remake and know the basics. They know what Ether and Phoenix Down do and they know how certain spells work. However, with this being a remake, there are plenty of new elements to Final Fantasy 7 that were not included in the original.

One item that many Final Fantasy 7 Remake players might be curious about is the Moogle Medal. These will drop randomly from crates and enemies during the early parts of the game, but the menus or tutorials never make it clear what to do with Moogle Medals. Some might make the mistake of selling them for Gil but it's important to hold onto the medals.

What to Do With Moogle Medals

In Chapter 8 of the game, where Cloud is with Aerith in the Slums, players will unlock a new open world area to explore. Like in Chapter 3, there will be several side quests to complete and helping these Midgar citizens out will eventually unlock access to Moggle's Hideout. Once players have access to Moggle, they will then need to complete sidequests to gain a Moggle Membership card (for 100 Gil).

With the Moggle Membership card in-hand, players can finally spend their Moogle Medals at the Moogle Emporium. This is the only place that players can spend Moogle Medals, so if they have them they should use them.

The Moogle Emporium has a very good selection of items including weapons for Barret and Aerith. This exclusive Final Fantasy 7 Remake shop also has a few books that every player should buy, as they give a playable character a 10 Skill Point (SP) boost for upgrading their weapons. Upgrading weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the key to upgrading the character that wields them, and picking specific upgrades can determine what role a character will fill (magic user, attacker, defender, etc.).

Depending on how much grinding Final Fantasy 7 Remake players have done prior to reaching Chapter 8 that might have a lot of Moogle Medals or practically any. If there is something they want but can't get, we recommend completing more of the game's sidequests and keeping an eye out for Shinra Crates. Make sure to break every single one that is scattered in an area. Some even respawn if players exit and re-enter an open world section.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now for PS4.
