Yuffie's DLC episode from the PS5 upgrade to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, INTERmission, includes a decently challenging boss at the halfway point. The Gigantipede is a massive mechanical Shinra weapon shaped like a centipede, which kind of calls back to the first boss from the main campaign.

Anybody who is unprepared for the bout might have a hard time beating this beast, but follow the guide below to understand the best way to prepare for the boss and the most solid strategy. Yuffie may be just a teenager, but giant bosses like this are like brushing dust off her shoulder.

When Is The Boss Fight?

Before Gigantepede boss FF7 remake INTERmission

It is important to know exactly when this fight is going to take place so as not to be taken off guard. While in chapter one, Yuffie and Sonon chase down and try to save Zhijie from pursuing Shinra soldiers. Eventually you'll reach a room with a store, a bench, and Lightning Materia. The path to the left from here leads to a cutscene and a boss, so be sure to ready Yuffie and Sonon's equipment here.

How To Prepare

The Gigantipede has two sections; one of them is weak to physical attacks and one of them is weak to lightning. With this in mind, it is important to have Lightning Materia equipped, but also either a weapon or an accessory that increases the physical attack stat. It will help greatly to have Ramuh, but the boss is completely manageable without the summon. Other than these two points, one should be as ready as they are for any other boss fight. Make sure to have some Hi-Potions, Phoenix Downs, and also healing spells at the ready.

The First Phase Of The Fight

For the first portion of the fight the Gigantipede puts up little resistance. The head is weak towards physical attacks, while the tail succumbs to lightning quicker. Do not bother using other elements or status effects, because it is immune to most of them. Lightning will also fill up the stagger gauge quickly. Change Yuffie's Ninjitsu to lightning and use it on the tail to fill up the stagger gauge even faster while also keeping a safe distance. The Gigantipede will eventually become incapacitated for a short moment, leaving it vulnerable to some direct attacks. Use this opportunity to use Synergized Art of War on the head.

The Second Phase

Eventually the Gigantipede will crawl away and reappear on the wall of the arena. Use this short respite to heal. Drones will then appear and start targeting Yuffie and Sonon. Destroy the Drones as fast as possible, prioritizing the ones who aim a red laser on Yuffie. These missiles pack a punch, but should not cause a game over as long as the party has full health.

The boss will eventually swing back down to the play area again with a few new moves. The Containment Laser move is powerful, but easy to dodge, just stay out of the red cone of vision. The enemy also does not move during this attack, leaving the tail open to lightning attacks. It Also eventually deploys drones again, which should take priority whenever they pop up.

The Final Phase

During the last phase of the fight, the boss's head comes off to reveal a buzzsaw-like apparatus. The strategy mostly remains the same here but it has a few additional attacks and will occasionally crawl on the wall again. Now is a good time to use Ramuh if Yuffie beat it in Chadley's VR arena earlier in the game. Follow these tips and make sure the party's health never gets too low, and the Gigantipede will be toast in no time.
