Five years after it was announced at Sony's E3 2015 press conference, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is finally on the verge of its long-awaited launch. Fans who have waited patiently for the game are no doubt excited to jump in and see if it lives up to their expectations, but they may want to plan for a long install time.
With Final Fantasy 7 Remake already out in the wild in some areas, fans have started reporting about how long it took their PS4 systems to actually install the game. As it turns out, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake install time is about one hour for those getting physical copies. An hour may not seem like a terribly long time, but it's definitely not preferable to the days when players were able to just pop in a disc and play.
On the bright side, the install time for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake physical disc is going to be a lot faster than how long it will take to download the game. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is nearly 100GB, making it one of the most massive games available on consoles. While some may prefer a physical disc for Final Fantasy 7 Remake over a digital version, it may not be possible for everyone. Part of the reason why Square Enix decided to release Final Fantasy 7 Remake early in some regions was due to potential shipping delays caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Even with the early release, though, Square Enix has admitted that some Final Fantasy 7 Remake physical copies will still arrive later than expected for some fans.
Regardless of whether one picks up a physical or digital version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the game should provide a high quality experience. Final Fantasy 7 Remake reviews have been mostly positive, with the game sitting as one of the highest-rated games of 2020 so far.
In the meantime, here's hoping that fans don't have to wait quite as long for the next installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be episodic, so it remains to be seen when fans can see the story continue.
