With just a few months to go until the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Square Enix released a story recap video for players to watch and get caught up. Narrated by Max Mittelman, Red XIII's voice actor, the new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth video condensed the main story of Final Fantasy 7 Remake into a digestible format.

Mittelman reprises his role as Red XIII in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, having voiced the character during the climax of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. While Red XIII is portrayed as wiser beyond his years, the character's voiced lines in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children were severely restricted. Though Liam O'Brien was the first English voice actor for Red XIII, Mittelman added a low and quiet growl to his voice to fit the situation in FF7 Remake. As Red XIII is expected to have a much larger role in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, especially as the party reaches Cosmo Canyon and points beyond, it remains to be seen how Mittelman's performance will resonate with players.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Could Exclude 1 Major Spin-Off Character

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Tetsuya Nomura casts doubt on one major, and controversial, spin-off character returning in the upcoming sequel.

As the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth draws nearer, Square Enix released a five-minute YouTube video that consolidated the story of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, with Mittelman telling the tale from Red XIII's point of view. While the story of the Intermission DLC was not included in Mittelman's narration, the video touched upon all the important main story details from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. In addition, the video will be included in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in some capacity, though it remains to be seen how it will be accessed in the game. Known for his previous work on characters such as Ryuji Sakamoto in Persona 5 Royal, Mittelman goes for a sobering and slow tone in the narration video. The video starts with Red XIII recounting Avalanche's successful bombing of the Sector 1 Mako Reactor in Midgar, and Cloud's encounters with Aerith and Tifa.

Following the fall of Sector 7, Red XIII goes on to briefly explain the Arbiters of Fate, known as the Whispers, and how Sephiroth seems to be tied to them. While the story of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is not set in stone, the timeline was made all the more confusing following some recent news from Square Enix.

Between the recent ESRB rating of FF7 Rebirth and this latest story recap video, Square Enix's promotion of the PS5 exclusive title is ramping up. Only time will tell how things will play out once the game is released.
