In an interview with Game Informer, director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will take up 150 GB of space, reminding players that it will be available on two discs. The two discs of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth contain 100 GB and 50 GB of data, but fans will only need to insert one disc to play the game. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was confirmed to be on two discs at the end of its Summer Game Fest trailer, and it seems like fans are pretty excited about it being such a large game. In the interview, Hamaguchi has explained that this allows the development team to preserve its vision for the title, allowing them to make a highly detailed world that is more immersive than Midgar in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It also mentions that squeezing the game on a single disc would mean that the developers would have to scale back some elements, so making it a two-disc release was a clear solution.

The full interview contains more details on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, such as how much of the story is covered in this sequel and some insight into the expanded mini-games present in the title. It also states that fans will receive unknown summon materia if they have save data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but players will not be able to carry over stats or abilities.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will launch for PS5 on February 29, 2024.
