Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gives players a long list of Materia to equip on their characters and use in battle. Most Materia gives an additional spell or ability while others give passive stat boosts. Better weapons and armor can be found for each party member with most of them offering more Materia slots to choose from.

Most spell Materia are damage-focused and give players the ability to hit an enemy's weakness and stagger them but more supportive options are just as helpful. The Time Materia lets players either speed up their own party or slow down their enemies, with the tier three spell even fully stopping an enemy from moving for a short time.

Where To Get The Time Materia

There are two Time Materia in the game for players to find, with the first being available after reaching Costa Del Sol in Chapter 6. After splitting up with the party, Cloud will go off with Barret to see the town and can participate in Pirate's Rampage in the northern section of town. Completing the Brigantine stage and getting the Rank III reward for getting 15,000 points will reward players with the Time Materia.

The second Time Materia is obtained in the Nibel region and is obtained much further in the game. Upon arriving in Nibel in Chapter 11, the Nibel Region Intel: Level 1 Combat Challenge will be available but can only be attempted after defeating 20 enemies in that region first. It's important to note that these are 20 different enemy types requiring players to explore the region or progress the story to find new enemies to fight. After finding and defeating 20 different enemies, the combat challenge can be attempted and will consist of five rounds.

How To Use The Time Materia

Barret Casting Stop On An Enemy

The Time Materia has three levels with three different spells to use. At level 1 it starts with Haste which buffs a party member and makes them generate ATB much faster. At level 2 it learns Slow which can be cast on an enemy. While Slowed, enemies will use special named attacks less often but will still be able to use basic attacks as usual. Its level 3 spell is Stop and is cast on enemies to make them completely stop moving and acting for a short time.
