Sony Is Releasing a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth TV

Sony Electronics and Square Enix announce the official gaming television for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, releasing next month.

Despite that ongoing influx of information, one detail about the game that Square Enix has yet to officially disclose is its download size. But Twitter user PlayStationSize has just beat it to the punch, having revealed that FF7Rebirth will weigh 145.25GB. That figure suggests the game will be nearly twice as big as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, whose installation size was also leaked by this very same user ahead of the game's 2021 launch.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Download Sizes

  • FF7 Remake (PS4) - 85.965 GB
  • FF7 Remake Intergrade (PS5) - 81.338 GB
  • FF7 Remake Intergrade (PC) - ~100 GB
  • FF7 Rebirth (PS5) - 145.250 GB

According to a recent update to the game's PlayStation Store page that has since been reverted, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will become available to preload on February 27, two days ahead of its debut. The 48-hour window should provide most fans with enough time to download the JRPG in advance so that they are able to play it from the moment it drops. That notwithstanding, this humongous download size establishes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as one of the top ten biggest PS5 games ever released.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Is Reportedly on the Horizon

In a separate tweet, PlayStationSize reported that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also get treated to a demo closer to its release. Beating the trial version of the RPG will allegedly unlock the Kupo Charm Survival Set in the full game, as per the same source. This particular leak was shared in response to Sony's announcement of the second PlayStation State of Play for 2024, with the implication being that the demo will debut following the broadcast. The upcoming stream is scheduled to take place on February 6, at 6:30pm ET.

The notion of a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo being on the horizon seems well within the realm of possibility. After all, the last Final Fantasy 16-focused State of Play broadcast also concluded with the unexpected launch of that game's playable demo back in 2023. And while demos are less prevalent today than in past decades, Square Enix itself is still fairly consistent at producing them for its AAA games.
