After the venture through the Mythril Mines in the third chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the next chapter opens up in another large area to explore. Just like in the second chapter, there will be a lot for you to get involved with in the Junon Region. Not only you obtain Phoenix, but there are also some side quests if you want to take a break from the story. However, if you are looking to just progress to the next chapter, here is what you need to do in Chpater 4: Dawn of a New Era.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so proceed with caution.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Review

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an epic-scale adventure with an unforgettable cast of characters that will keep players busy for dozens of hours.

Explore the Junon Region

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough2

Just like with the second chapter, you gain access to a large area that you can explore. Instead of the Grasslands, you will be exploring the Junon Region. Before heading to Junon, you may want to take this time to activate the towers around the area so that you can get a better idea as to what you can find. There is one southwest of the exit to the Mythril Mines and one to the east as well.

You can also use the towers to locate a spot where you can tame a chocobo for the Junon Region as well, which is depicted above. Since the Junon Mountain Chocobo can climb up certain cliff faces, taming one should be a priority soon after you've started this chapter. Once you feel like you've explored enough and are ready to proceed, head northwest towards Junon. As you get close, a cutscene will trigger.

Head further into town and the group will split up to gather information on where the black-robed figures are going and methods of transport. There are several shops you can visit as well, so stock up if needed. In order to progress the story, talk to Tifa, Barret, and Aerith. Then enter the inn with the fish sign hanging from above the doorway. Talk to the innkeeper and then run down towards the docks to investigate the cry for help.

Make sure you are ready to proceed before going into the inn, as fast travel will become temporarily unavailable.

How to Beat Terror of the Deep

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough4

Once you reach the dock, a cutscene will trigger. Once it ends, you will have to beat Terror of the Deep. The main attack you will need to watch out for is when Terror of the Deep casts Water Cell and traps one of your party members in a sphere of water. This party member cannot attack or move. Unfortunately, there is no way to dodge this attack. In order to break your friend out, you must use magic on the water.

Make sure to have at least one or more party members that can use ranged attacks, as Terror of the Deep is very difficult (if not impossible) to hit with melee attacks at the start of the battle. When you can, use Assess to learn the boss's weakness and stagger it as soon as possible so that the rest of the party can have an easier time damaging it. Being a monster that lives in the water, Terror of the Deep is weak to electricity. So when you don't have to waste magic to get party members out of the water, use anything that does lightning damage.

As you build up Limit Breaks and Synergy Abilties, try to save them for when the boss enters melee range later on in the fight. You'll know you are reaching that point when an in-combat cinematic occurs. A giant tornado of water will appear in the middle of the arena and water will shoot up out of the nearby grates. Once it is in melee range, it will be much easier to pressure and then stagger it.

Once Terror of the Deep is staggered, unleash everything you've got, since you won't have to worry about water cells for a bit. If you have enough Limit Breaks and Synergy in reserve, you can easily take down Terror of the Deep in one stagger.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Was Right to Lean Into the Series' Humor

The Final Fantasy franchise has always had funny moments, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth leans into comedy more than ever before, and it's for the best.

Check on Yuffie

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough6

Yuffie, the girl on the boat, took a real beating in that previous cutscene. Swim back to shore to go check on her. After the cutscene, go back up to the middle of town to trigger another cutscene. Once you've done all that, head to the inn and get some rest to advance the story.

As you go toward your room, approach Aerith's door to listen in on the conversation. After she closes the door, you can knock on it and go back in to loot the chest that contains a weapon upgrade for her. You'll have the option to talk to everyone and potentially improve your relationship with them. Don't take too long to decide though, as the timer does run out.

Cloud's room is on the second floor. So when you are ready to continue, go into this room. This triggers another cutscene for the following day. Once the cutscene is over, leave Cloud's room and quickly head downstairs and outside the inn. After a brief cutscene, fast travel will open up again. You will unlock several side quests for the Junon Region as well. Once you are ready to proceed, go down to the docks and speak with Priscilla.

Make sure you are ready before speaking with Priscilla, as you won't be able to leave Upper Junon for awhile.

Dolphin Mini-Game

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough7

Jump into the water and follow the dolphin. As you swim out, you will eventually trigger a mini-game. In order to complete this mini-game, you must reach the end of the course before time runs out. To do this, hit as many balls in the water as you can to increase your speed. Be careful not to hit any other obstacle, as that will slow you down. Once you've reached the end, there will be a series of quick-time events. If you complete these successfully, you will clear the mini-game and will be able to continue the story.

Infiltrate Upper Junon

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough8

Go up the platform and enter the control room. Interact with the controls and use the right stick to bring the tanker down to where the rest of the party can board it. After the cutscene of the party boarding the tanker, lift it back up. Once you regain control of Cloud, leave the control room and approach your companions. Go to the end of the hallway and loot the chest next to the vending machine. Don't worry about the Shinra soldiers you encounter along the way. They don't seem to be bothered by the new arrivals.

Go up the stairs and take a left. Run past all the Shinra soldiers and then go left towards the terminal. Interact with it to go down toward the city. After the cutscene, go across the hallway and enter the small compartment with the terminal. Use the terminal to activate the elevator. At the bottom of the elevator, you will trigger a cutscene and Barret and Red XIII will leave the party. Follow Tifa and Aerith through the hallway to where the spare uniforms can be (conveniently) found. Leave the room to trigger a cutscene and another mini-game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth extends on classic moments fans know and love from Final Fantasy 7 with one change so special that it shouldn't be forgotten.

Parade Mini-Game

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough9

After a cutscene, you will get a chance to practice for the parade. The mini-game in question is a simple rhythm game. When you see a button in red you simply have to tap it in time with the beat. If it is yellow, you have to repeatedly tap the button. If it is blue, you have to hold the button. You can practice the mini-game as much as you want. Once you complete it, you will be promoted to parade captain.

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough10

In order to progress the story, you will need to find the Seventh Infantry members. They are all scattered around the city (including the shops), and while you only need to find five groups to progress the story, you will get a trophy for finding everyone. Once you are ready to proceed with the story, speak with the Commander (she's the one wearing the red hat and coat).

Before telling her you are ready, you may want to take this time to adjust your Parade Formation. The order in which you put troops will increase or decrease the difficulty of the upcoming mini-game. The higher the difficulty, the more points you will get. Before you start the mini-game you can practice as much as you want. If you want the best outcome for this mini-game, you will want to aim to get 100,000 points.

Points are totaled at the end of each round, so you can see how you are doing.

After the Parade

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough11

Once the cutscenes are over, you will take control of Yuffie. Climb up the scaffolding directly in front of you and then go up the ladder. To proceed beyond this point you will need to go along the clock to get to the other side of the scaffolding. Keep climbing up to the top, and you will trigger another cutscene followed by a mini-game.

Per the instructions of the mini-game, you must align your circle with the target until it turns gold. Once this happens, press the X button. Repeat this process until another cutscene triggers. Once it is over, you will gain control over Cloud and a group of Shinra soldiers. They will fight alongside you, and you can heal them in battle. Follow along the path and deal with other Shinra soldiers as you go.

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough12

As you go up the elevator, you will come across a large mech. Once you destroy it, another one will activate. There will also be Shinra Soldiers up on the balcony as well. Once you've dealt with all the enemies, use the next elevator to proceed. At the end of the next area is a set of vending machines. If you use the rest point, it will heal up the soldiers that are following you as well. Make sure you are fully healed up before entering the next area, as a boss fight awaits.

How to Beat Roche

final-fantasy-7-rebirth-chapter-4-walkthrough13

Yes, you will have to fight Roche while he is on a motorcycle. No, you do not get a motorcycle of your own. Block and dodge his attacks as much as you can and then use abilities or magic that does fire damage since he is weak to it. Stagger him to have an easier time landing attacks, and it won't take long to defeat him.

Once the boss fight is over, go through the opening in the wall toward the elevator. After the cutscene, use the elevator and meet up with the rest of your party. Cross the bridge to trigger another cutscene and bring the current chapter to a close.
