Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gives players quite a bit of versatility with the settings they can choose, allowing them to fine-tune their combat style as per their play style.

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, right at the start of the game, players can choose between Classic and Active Combat. While the game does provide a brief description of the two modes, it can still be a bit confusing to pick the right one. Thankfully, one mode has a clear advantage over the other, so players will not need to change it for different chapters in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Here is which combat style is the best in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

What Is Classic Combat In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

Classic Combat in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is pretty much simulating the combat sequences, and players don't get to play much role in controlling the characters. Although players get to intervene in between and perform any action they want, one would find themselves having to intervene quite a number of times. While it can surely help players catch a break from the combat sequences and just enjoy themselves, the AI is quite subpar in dealing with the enemies.

What Is Active Combat In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?

Active Combat gives full control to the players and they can strategize accordingly. Players can choose any party member, spells, items, and skills, and the AI won't intervene in between. This essentially means that if players stop controlling their characters at any given point, then their characters will simply stop doing anything. This is in contrast to Classic Combat, where the character would go back to AI mode and continue to attack the enemies.

Which Combat Style Should You Choose?

Unless players are actually tired of the combat sequences, Active Combat is the way to go. Classic Combat is quite boring, to say the least, and, in most scenarios, equally ineffective as well. In Classic Combat, the character would barely use any tactics that capitalize on the weakness of the enemies, making the encounters much longer than they should ideally be. In fact, the characters barely use any other mechanics apart from simply spamming the attack button, which can be quite a bummer. What is Final Fantasy, after all, without the flashy combos?

Players get an option to choose between the two combat styles right at the start of starting a new game. However, if, for some reason, players have chosen the wrong one, fret not as it is quite simple to switch between the two modes. Head to the Menu and users can find the Combat Style in the Gameplay tab of the Menu. Simply choose the one that you prefer, and you can seamlessly cycle between the modes as per your will.
