Each chapter in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will vary greatly in length. Some are long like the ones where you can freely explore one of the many regions in the game, while others are shorter. This is especially the case for the fifth chapter, Blood in the Water. After the events in Junon, Cloud and the others continue following the black-robed figures in hopes of finding Sephiroth. This brief chapter covers the journey to Costa del Sol which ends up being anything but a pleasant voyage.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an epic-scale adventure with an unforgettable cast of characters that will keep players busy for dozens of hours.

Play Cards

Once you regain control of Cloud, go up the stairs and then down the hallway. There is another set of stairs that leads up to an area that triggers a cutscene. Afterwards, talk to your companions. In order to progress the story, you have to sign up and play in the Queen's Blood tournament. Whether you win or lose, you can continue the story regardless. You even have the option to forfeit from the start if you have no interest in Queen's Blood whatsoever. After the bonus match at the award ceremony, head down to your room to get some rest.

Go to the Deck

Follow the instructions provided by the crew to reach the deck where the captain is. Somehow, a bunch of fiends are onboard the ship, and they need to be dealt with. Your party will be restricted to Cloud, Red XIII, and Aerith. Head out to the sundeck and deal with the fiends out there. Once you've fought off several waves of enemies, including the one inside, go down the stairs near the hiding crew member.

On the lower floor, Tifa will rejoin your party. Run down the hallway and fight the two Necrotic Entities that appear. They don't have any weaknesses, so just focus on pressuring and staggering them. Once they are dead and the cutscene is over, follow the sound of Barret's voice. Go down the stairs to enter the cargo hold. Once you enter the open space in the cargo hold, you will have to fight another Necrotic Entity along with a Daemonic Entity.

Unlike Necrotic Entity, Daemonic Entity is weak to ice damage. After the fight, go to the left to loot the chest which contains a pair of gloves for Tifa. Go up the stairs on the right and walk across the platform to find an area with several more Daemonic Entities. Go under the boxes to find a path forward where you will have to fight another Necrotic Entitiy and a Shrieker which looks similar to the Screamer encountered during the first chapter. The Shrieker has no weaknesses, but takes less damage from the front when it is swinging its mace.

After dealing with them, go up the stairs toward the engine room. Make use of the vending machines and rest station before going into the next room. Once you go down the stairs and regroup with Barret, it's time for a boss fight.

How to Beat Jenova Emergent

The first thing you will want to do is watch out for is when Jenova Emergent casts Pestilence. This creates a small cloud of purple energy that moves toward the wall. When it casts Vengeance, it shoots a narrow beam of energy in one direction. Neither of these attacks can be blocked, so dodge them. Jenova Emergent has no weaknesses. Once you pressure Jenova Emergent, you'll be able to target the head.

By destroying the head, you will successfully stagger Jenova Emergent. Use this opportunity to deal as much damage as possible before it recovers. Shortly after recovering from the stagger, Jenova Emergent will drop to the ground, grow a bunch of arms, and will gain a new set of abilities. One of the new abilities is an unblockable attack called Exaltation, which shoots five beams of energy out in different directions.

Another ability you will need to watch out for is Torment, where the boss will grab one of your party members. As you continue to pressure Jenova Emergent, you will be able to destroy the arm and the head. Doing so will shut down some of the boss's abilities and stagger it. After you deal enough damage to the boss, a series of tentacles will spawn. They don't have much health, so deal with them first before returning your focus on Jenova Emergent.

Repeat the process of pressuring, destroying body parts, and then staggering the boss to defeat it. Defeating Jenova Emergent ends the fifth chapter, and the next chapter begins as you arrive at Costa del Sol.
