All Chocobo Types and How to Get Them in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

The best way to add a Chocobo to your collection is to seek them out across the various locations and successfully sneak up on them to tame them. This can be done at any point in time in the wild by simply locating the spawn locations and get to work. Others will be part of the main story progression, so you will always have plenty of chances to use these animals.

Yellow Chocobo - Grasslands

Yellow Chocobo - Grasslands

The base Chocobo that players will be very familiar with, this particular one main story. After getting to Bill's Ranch, you will be required to capture Piko the Chocobo. This is also where the game will teach the basics of how to tame a wild Chocobo.

Grey Chocobo - Junon

Once in the Junon region, having a Chocobo adept at climbing becomes quite useful. Head to the ranch outside of the city and begin to attempt to tame Belle. Start by using the mine carts to stay out of sight, before using rocks as distractions to sneak by. Use the mine cart switch to trigger a moving cart, which can then be used as cover to progress further. Continue on the other side and make your way over to Belle.

Orange Chocobo - Costa del Sol

An easy get, once players get to Costa del Sol, they can either complete the Rendezvous side mission, or rent one of these animals at the stables near the exit.

Green Chocobo - Gongaga

Aqua Chocobo - Cosmo Canyon

This particular Chocobo can be obtained at Cosmo Canyon, a short distance north of the Activation Intel Tower 1. Use the carts as cover, and make your way over to the target while using rocks to distract the others from discovering you.

Blue Chocobo - Nibelheim

Blue Chocobo - Nibelheim

Last but not least, the blue Chocobo can be obtained as part of the Bonds of Trust side quest. Make sure to use the environment to sneak past the two Chocobos at the top of the cliff, and then throw treats to lure the target to your location. Be wary of the nearby cacti, as it will prevent the Chocobo from making its way to you.
