Final Fantasy 6 tells the story of a brave group of adventurers' journey to stop the world from falling into darkness. While progressing through the story, the party will be forced to defeat an array of dangerous foes, and though most enemies that appear in the game's first half are relatively easy to defeat, the latter half of the game is chock-full of incredibly powerful bosses.

Upon reaching the World of Ruin in Final Fantasy 6, players can encounter extremely dangerous foes known as the Legendary Dragons. These dragons were scattered across the world after the Cataclysm and will attack the party if they get too close. There are 8 Legendary Dragons hidden throughout the world, but some are harder to find than others.

To find the Earth Dragon, players must travel to the Opera House. Once inside, the NPC standing at the top of the stairs will reveal that a dragon has made itself at home on the stage. To reach the stage, the player must travel up the stairs on the right-hand side of the entrance hall, continue north through the next area, and proceed into the room with the three switches on the wall.

Pulling the third switch will then cause the party to fall onto the stage, where they will be forced to battle the Earth Dragon.

The Ice Dragon can be found and fought by returning to Narshe and entering the Narshe Mines. From there, players should progress through the mine shafts until they reach the Narshe Cliffs, wherein the Ice Dragon can be seen roaming around in the wide-open, maze-like area.

If players don't wish to fight it and only want to explore the Narshe Cliffs, they can easily sneak by it, but those who wish to fight it can do so by approaching it.

The Holy Dragon is located in the third-highest room of the Cultists' Tower, alongside a Treasure Chest containing the Kagenui. To defeat this foe, the party will need to rely solely on the magic they have acquired thus far, as physical attacks cannot be used while inside the Cultists' Tower.

Players will likely encounter this foe while progressing through Final Fantasy 6's main story, but there is no need to fight it until later.

The Storm Dragon is one of the more well-hidden Legendary Dragons. To find it, the player must journey to Mt. Zozo, travel to the second floor, proceed northeast passed the save point, and stand on the pressure plate. Doing so will cause the chest directly north of the party to open, releasing the Storm Dragon into the room.

To begin the battle against the Storm Dragon, the player should guide the party leader back to the save point, where it will eventually fly into them.

To find the Blue Dragon, players will first need to move Figaro Castle to either Kohlingen or South Figaro, depending on where it is currently stationed. Instead of completing the journey, the player should leave the castle while it is underground, allowing them to enter the Cave to the Ancient Castle.

Finding Odin in Final Fantasy 6

Upon progressing through the Cave to the Ancient Castle, players will reach the Ancient Castle itself. Continuing through the two large doors at the front of the castle and proceeding through a short hallway, they will be faced with a statue of Odin.

Interacting with this statue will reward players with the Odin magcite, after which the player should take five steps back from the throne on the right and then interact with the tile the party leader is standing on. Doing so will cause a staircase to appear; traveling down them will lead to a room wherein the Blue Dragon can be found.

Where To Find The Red Dragon In Final Fantasy 6

Celes finds the Red Dragon in Final Fantasy 6

The Red Dragon can be found wandering around in the Phoenix Cave, one of the most challenging dungeons in all of Final Fantasy 6. To progress through the Phoenix Cave, the player needs to assemble two separate parties and send them both in individually. Though it's possible to complete this dungeon with less than eight characters, it can be extremely difficult, so players should aim to bring eight whenever they decide to explore it.

The Phoenix Cave can be pretty hard to navigate if players are hoping to obtain all the treasures there, but those hoping to locate the Red Dragon itself can follow this path:

  • The first party should enter the cave and stand on the pressure plate.
  • The second party can then proceed through the newly opened hole in the wall, circle around to the right, and stand on the pressure plate above the previous one.
  • The first party should then proceed through the hole in the wall on the right and travel north until they are standing on the next pressure plate.
  • The second party can then backtrack to the previous area and proceed north passed where the spikes were once blocking the way ahead. At the end of this linear path waits another pressure plate.
  • Once this pressure plate has been stood on, the first party can proceed east passed the two now ineffective spike traps. Then, they must travel down the stairs leading south, just in front of where the second party is standing.
  • The first party will then need to travel across the wooden bridge leading west, head north, and stand on the pressure plate overlooking the pool of lava below. Once the plate has been pressed, the first party should backtrack to the entrance and continue east along the other wooden platform until they reach a dead end.
  • Taking control of the second party, players should head west and travel down the stairs to reach the same room the first party is currently in. Continuing south and heading through the nearest door on the left will lead to another pressure plate that, when stood on, will extend a bridge leading north.
  • Once the bridge is extended, the second party should return to the door at the beginning of the previous room and head east along the wooden platform, where they will need to hop across the three rocks in the lava. They will then need to hop back across using the three rocks just above the previous set. Traveling north and then east will lead to another pressure plate that, when stood on, will open the way forward for the first party.
  • The first party can then proceed north through the door ahead, turn left, and head south through the other door to find the next plate.
  • The second party can then proceed down the previously blocked northern path to enter a new area. The pressure plate just northwest of the door, when activated, will lower the spikes blocking the path the first party is on.
  • The first party can then move past the spikes and through the door leading south at the western side of this room. In the next room, the party will need to hop across the rocks in the lava by traveling west, south, and then east. To reach the next room, they must then hop across the rightmost set of rocks leading north and head through the door. Inside is a switch that, when pulled, will remove the water and lava blocking both parties' paths.
  • The second party should then head west and stand on the pressure plate, which will open the southern path for the first party.
  • The first party can then proceed directly south to encounter the Red Dragon.

Where To Find The Gold Dragon In Final Fantasy 6

Locke finds the Gold Dragon in Final Fantasy 6

The Gold Dragon is a Lightning-based boss that is especially susceptible to Water damage. To find it, the player will need to infiltrate Kefka's Tower and use the second party they form to fight it.

  • From where the second party lands after arriving at Kefka's Tower, the player should proceed south and then west through the opening in the wall.
  • In the next area, they should travel up the conveyor belt leading north, travel a short distance west, and then continue south through the door below the one leading north.
  • Inside, the Ultima Buster boss will be seen idling in the westernmost chamber. Defeating this foe will cause a save point to appear, but it isn't required to locate the Gold Dragon.
  • Continuing south through the door, the party leader will plummet into a new area. To leave, they must climb the stairs on the western side of the room and exit through the door.
  • Traveling through the pipe on the left-hand side of this room will lead to a new area.
  • The party leader can then travel down the conveyor belt to the right and enter the pipe leading west to find a switch. Pressing this switch will unlock the way forward.
  • The party leader should then return to the previous area and enter the door leading north, wherein they will find the Gold Dragon waiting in the center of the room.

  • From where the third party leader lands upon entering Kefka's Tower, they should travel down the conveyor belt and continue through the southmost door and then through the west door in the next room.
  • In the next area, they will need to travel to the northern conveyor belt and use it to progress forward, where they will be attacked by the Ketu, Rahu, and Inferno boss.
  • Once the boss has been dealt with, continuing down the stairs leading west and then proceeding south will lead the party back outside.
  • Taking the southwestern path and entering the door leading north will lead the party to the chamber containing the Skull Dragon.

Once all the Legendary Dragons have been defeated, the Crusader magicite will be added to the party's inventory.
