After an intense battle with Ultros in the Lethe River, players will be asked to pick from three Final Fantasy 6 scenarios. One of those scenarios follows Locke as he makes his way through South Figaro and toward Narshe. This guide is here to provide full details on this section of the game, and it will help players complete Locke's scenario in Final Fantasy 6.

How to Get Cider

Locke's scenario begins in South Figaro, and players have one primary task that they must resolve in this location. Specifically, fans of classic JRPGs must obtain a bottle of cider, and the first step toward collecting that beverage is heading up to the Item Shop. Here, players will find a merchant standing next to a clock, and they should engage him in battle and use Locke's Steal ability to take his clothes.

Fans should now exit the Item Shop, descend a flight of stairs, and use the first door on the left to enter the old man's house. Players should then use the stairs within the house and speak with the boy at the bottom to gain passage into the basement. There is a door within this basement, which fans can use to access a new section of South Figaro.

Upon entering this new section, players should stay to the right and head upward to pass by the Armor Shop and climb a flight of stairs. At the top of those stairs, Final Fantasy fans should follow the path to the left until they reach a green guard. Players should then battle this guard and use Locke's Steal ability to take his outfit. Notably, fans may need to use Steal several times before they are successful in obtaining the guard's clothes.

With this new disguise equipped, players should backtrack to the area below the Armor Shop and use the path on the left to head toward the rich man's house. There are three guards standing in front of this house, and players should interact with the one at the bottom to gain passage into another section of South Figaro. This section is home to a bar, which fans of 2D games should now enter.

In the bar, players should use the stairs on the right to descend into the basement. There is a merchant in this location, and fans should engage him battle and use Locke's Steal ability until they claim that NPC's clothes and ultimately his bottle of cider.

What to Do With Cider

Once the cider has been secured, players must make their way back to the basement of the old man's house, speak with the boy at the bottom of the stairs, and head up to the main floor. Fans will find the old man in a room on this floor, and they should interact with him to hand over the cider and hear some words about a password. When that conversation comes to an end, players should return to the boy downstairs and select "Courage" to reveal a path toward the rich man's house.

Rich Man's House

After taking that path, players can collect an Elixir from the clock at the bottom of the stairs before using the door at the top. Fans of turn-based RPGs should then move down slightly, use the exterior door, climb the interior stairs, and use the first door that they encounter to enter the rich man's bedroom. There is a bookcase on the left side of this room, which hides a staircase that players should descend.

Fans should now follow the path ahead, and they can either agree or refuse to remove their disguise when prompted to do so. Just down from that prompt, players will find a hidden path that leads to a dungeon with two chests. Those chests hold a Hyper Wrist and Hermes Sandals, and players should collect them if they did not during their first trip to this location.

Beyond the hidden path, players will encounter a door, and approaching it initiates a cutscene that serves as Celes's introduction. When the scene concludes, fans should approach Final Fantasy 6's Celes, remove her bindings, and spend some time equipping her. Notably, this is a good opportunity to update Locke's equipment, if any new items are available, as there are some difficult battles ahead.

With the duo equipped, players should interact with the sleeping guard to steal the Old Clock Key and then leave Celes's cell. Fans should then feel free to stop by the Save Station in the next room before proceeding through the door on the far right. Beyond that door, players can loot Gil from three chests, if that was not done during their previous visit to the rich man's house, and use the newly obtained key on the clock in the top-right corner to reveal a door.

After passing through the door, players will find themselves in an area in which they can have random encounters with Commanders and Vector Hounds. Notably, these enemies pack quite a punch, and fans of games with pixel graphics should make sure to use Celes's Heal ability to keep the party healthy. Players should also be aware of the fact that a Vector Hound will flee if it is the final enemy left in a battle, and they should plan their attacks accordingly.

Simultaneous to battling these enemies, players will need to work through a simple maze, and there are several items to pickup along the way. Here is a route that can be used to reach all these items, and fans will be ready to leave South Figaro once they have completed it:

  • Go down at the first fork to reach a chest with Iron Armor.
  • Go up at the second fork to reach two chests, which hold a Heavy Shield and Great Sword.
  • Return to the second fork, go down, and take the first left to access a flight of stairs. These stairs lead to a room where players can find the following: X-Potion (to right of stairs), Ribbon (hidden below X-Potion), Hi-Ether (down from stairs).
  • Go back up the stairs, continue downward, and head left at the bottom for an Earring Relic in Final Fantasy 6.
  • Go all the way to the right and exit the area.

Players now be outside the walls of South Figaro, and they should head upward to exit to the world map. Fans should then travel slightly northwest and enter South Figaro Cave.

Players must now fight their way through the cave, and they will ultimately find themselves in a room with two doors at the top. Through the door on the left, fans can find a chest containing a Thunder Rod, which can be used to instantly dispatch a Final Fantasy 6 boss that they will encounter imminently. That said, there will eventually be a more useful item in this chest if it is left alone for now, and players are thus advised to attempt the boss without the help of the Thunder Rod.

To reach that boss, fans of adventure games should use the door on the right to enter a room with a turtle. As players attempt to exit through this room's bottom-left corner, they will be attacked by the Tunnel Armor, and here is how this boss battle should be approached:

  • Use Celes's Runic ability on all of her turns to absorb the Tunnel Armor's most-potent attacks.
  • Attack with Locke on all his turns that occur when both party members are healthy. Use Locke's turn to heal with a potion when necessary.

After executing this strategy for several turns, the Tunnel Armor will fall. This will mark the end of Locke's scenario in Final Fantasy 6, and the player's path forward will depend on which scenarios they have tackled prior to this one.
