At first glance it would seem that the mission in Caer Norvent ended in failure in the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16. Yet in spite of the Dominant of Fire seemingly getting away, Clive did not leave the caer empty-handed. Having managed to somehow take Benedikta's powers away from her through currently unknown means, Clive gained access to a set of new abilities that allow him to wield Garuda's power.

While the previous couple of main scenario quests have been fairly linear, players do have some manner of flexibility in terms of whether they stay focused on the story or go off to do something else. This walkthrough will give players an idea as to what to expect as the story of Final Fantasy 16 continues in "Wings of Change".

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Leave the Caer

Having completed the previous main scenario quest, this area opens up as a fast travel point for the future if players wish to return. As "Wings of Change" begins, players will want to follow the red waypoint and leave the entrance to the caer. There is a High Potion on the ground to the right, so make sure to pick it up if there is space for it. Before going any further, however, Final Fantasy 16 players may want to take this time to look at the new set of abilities they can unlock.

Having taken Benedikta's powers, players can now use wind based abilities that are different from the ones available to Clive from the Phoenix's blessing. Once ready, deal with the group of enemies coming to investigate what happened at the caer.

There are several groups of imperials along the way. Since they aren't difficult to take down, they are easy EXP for players looking to level up. One group has a small dragon with them, but it is straightforward to defeat once players can stagger it. Approach the closed gate at the end of the road to trigger a cutscene.

Go to the Eye of the Tempest

Despite having lost her powers, Benedikta is still somehow able to transform into Garuda when she finds herself alone and cornered. Follow the path to reach the northeast exit to the Dragon's Aery. This area is much larger and more open than anything players have come across yet in Final Fantasy 16, so it is not a bad idea to explore.

There are enemies all over the Dragon's Aery. So if players want to level up a bit first before going on to face Garuda, they have the option to do so. These enemies also drop crafting materials as well. Items like Potions, Magicked Ash, Gil, and Sharp Fangs can be found all over this area. Once Final Fantasy 16 players feel like they have explored enough and are ready to move on, they can go toward the red waypoint. There is an obelisk nearby that players can attune to as well.

Once players reach the end of the Dragon's Aery, a cutscene will play and the world map will open. While players can go directly to the Eye of the Tempest, they do have the option to head back to the Hideway and restock, improve their equipment, or craft new items first. Upon going to Eye of the Tempest, a cutscene will play and this main scenario quest will conclude.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
