While some players may already have been suspecting it all along, the previous main scenario quest in Final Fantasy 16 confirms that Clive was the one who turned into Ifrit back during the prologue of the game. Naturally, the next main scenario quest opens up with Clive having a difficult time processing the fact that he was the one who killed his brother.

Since "The Wages of Guilt" is a very short quest, this walkthrough will cover both that quest and the next one "The Hunter and the Hunted". While "The Wages of Guilt" is more like an intermission quest, "The Hunter and the Hunted" is significantly more action focused with several intriguing plot developments that will leave Final Fantasy 16 players wanting to know what happens next.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Talk to Cid

Before going to speak with Cid, Final Fantasy 16 players may want to consider checking their abilities to see if there is anything they want to spend ability points on. After that, head up the stairs. There are new items at both shop and the forge, so players may want to take this time to improve their equipment or craft some new items. When ready, head to the middle of the Great Hall where Cid is waiting.

While Clive comes to terms with the information that recently came to light, he agrees to go with Cid and meet with Gav. Apparently Gav may have information about the Dominant of Fire. At this point, a new destination will appear on the world map. For the time being, players will be unable to fast travel anywhere else. There are also no new side quests avilable at this point the main scenario, so players may as well just keep going with the story by traveling to the Kingsfall. After a brief cutscene, "The Hunter and the Hunted" begins.

Rendezvous with Gav

While Cid goes off to investigate the presence of imperials, Clive continues on his own to find Gav. Continue along the path and grab the Wyrrite before jumping down to the ground below. Several groups of large spiders attack Final Fantasy 16 players. Deal with the spiders and jump across the river to reach the next part of the path. Just further ahead, players will have to deal with a larger foe.

Before long, players come across a large Minotaur. It wields a large club and uses it to swipe at players. In addition, the Minotaur will periodically charge at players. Dodge these attacks as much as possible and stagger it. Once the Minotaur dies, continue onward under the tree and pick up the Potion that is on the ledge. Continue along this path and deal with the spiders that are roaming around. This time the spiders are accompanied by large bee-like enemies.

Keep following this path and eventually players will encounter a group of spiders and another Minotaur. Eliminate them and keep moving forward. Climb up the ledge and grab the High Potion. Go across the bridge to trigger a cutscene. After the cutscene ends, players will fight a group of imperials. Deal with the caster in the back first and then kill the remaining enemies.

How to Beat the Knight of the Dying Sun

This boss is almost exactly the same as the one encountered near the beginning of the game. Since he is a dragoon, watch out for his Jump attack. The only thing to watch out for is near the end when the Knight of the Dying Sun uses Mirage Dive. This unleashes a series of jump attacks that can only be dodged. After a while, Cid uses his powers to knock the boss back down to the ground. The boss will be staggered, so players will be able to easily finish him off. This triggers a series of cutscenes and then players are taken to the world map. Return to the Hideaway to progress the story.

Speak to Jill

After being unconscious since the end of the fourth main scenario quest, Jill is finally awake. Follow the red waypoint to reach the infirmary. After a long cutscene of Clive and Jill catching up, players will need to speak with Charon to prepare for the journey to Phoenix Gate. In addition, two side quests unlock as well. The side quests are "A Place For Everyone" and "Moving Heaven and Earth".

Players may also want to take this time to improve their equipment or replace some pieces with new ones. When ready to proceed, speak with Charon and then Gav. After a cutscene, the world map will open and players will gain access to Three Reeds. Go there and the next main scenario quest will begin.
