In the previous main scenario quests of Final Fantasy 16, Clive and Jill learned an unsettling truth about the Mothercrystals. These giant crystals that are said to be a blessing are in fact what is causing the Blight that is turning Valisthea into a lifeless realm. The solution for how to stop it is, for many, unthinkable. To ensure there is a tomorrow for Valisthea, the Mothercrystals have to be destroyed.

In the nineteenth main scenario quest, "The Crystals' Curse", Cid's ambitious plan to take out one of the Mothercrystals commences. Here's what Final Fantasy 16 players can expect as they begin this action packed quest.

This walkthrough contains, so players should proceed with caution.

Go through the Glass Gate

After the cutscenes end, follow Cid through a doorway directly ahead. Go straight to reach an open room where several enemy soldiers are stationed. Eliminate them and then go toward the barricaded passageway. Destroy the barricade by pressing the 'X' button and continue onward through a small tunnel. Up ahead is another open area with a large group of enemies guarding it. Jump down and deal with them and be ready for a boss fight immediately afterward.

How to Beat Imperial Cannonier

final-fantasy-16-the-crystals-curse3

This impossibly large soldier carries what he calls a mortar. This large cannon can shoot out a bunch of projectile attacks, so be ready to dodge them. On top of that, the Imperial Cannonier will use a close range flamethrower attack as well. Keep moving back from the boss to avoid getting hit by the flames. In addition to ranged attacks, the boss will also periodically try to smack players with the cannon.

When the boss runs out of health, he will transform and phase two will begin. He will use all the same attacks as he did in phase one while also shooting around the arena on his cannon. Keep dodging his attacks and deplete his health bar again to defeat him.

Go Through the Mines

After defeating the boss, open the gate directly ahead. Go to the right and use the switch on the wall to go deeper into the mines. After getting off of the elevator, there is an item to the left and to the right along with a chest near the next tunnel. Make sure to grab them before proceeding further.

On the other side of the tunnel, there are workers who have been transformed by the aether that saturates the air in the mines. Defeat them and then smash the barricade to continue further into the mines. Jump across the hole in the bridge to trigger a brief cutscene and then keep moving forward. In the next area, look for a treasure chest to the right of the mine cart tracks near a hole in the wall.

The path forward is blocked by a large gate. Use the level on the wall to the right to open the way forward. Make sure to heal up before going further, as a tougher enemy waits up ahead with some smaller enemies next to it. As Final Fantasy 16 players fight this larger enemy, smaller ones will periodically appear and join the fight. Kill them all and then follow the mine cart tracks to another breakable barrier.

Look to the left to see a metal grate blocking the way forward. Before interacting with it, turn right and loot the chest. Interact with the gate to kick it down and proceed onward. After emerging from the other side of the tunnel, a cutscene will play. Go down the broken staircase to get closer to the Mothercrystal. At the bottom of the stairs, players will encounter more of the enemies they first saw during "Buried Memories".

Approach the Inner Sanctum

After dealing with the spectral foes, open the door and continue going toward the Mothercrystal. In the next chamber ahead, players will fight another Lich. Kill it and keep moving to the next chamber. Make sure to heal up before approaching the gate that leads to the inner sanctum. With a wide open space ahead, that can only mean one thing.

How to Beat the Akashic Dragon

final-fantasy-16-the-crystals-curse7

After a brief cutscene, Final Fantasy 16 players will find themselves facing off against a large dragon. The boss attacks with their wings and shoots out a laser from its mouth. Dodge these attacks as much as possible and try to stagger the boss quickly. The boss will also periodically spin and use its tail to attack as well.

Around 60% health, the boss will fly up into the air and cast Cauterize. During this attack, the boss will shoot fire from its mouth in a sweeping zig-zag motion across the entire arena. Watch the pattern of the attack and dodge the flames. After this, the boss will continue to use its normal set of attacks.

At roughly 20% health, the boss will cast Dragon Dance where it will shoot a bunch of flame attacks at players. Keep dodging as these projectiles will follow players. Keep up with the dragon and it will eventually fall. Once the cutscene is over, approach the gate to the inner sanctum.

Go through the gate and up toward the Mothercrystal. Keep an eye out for a chest on the left near a set of stairs. When ready, go up the stairs to trigger a cutscene and another boss fight.

How to Beat Typhon

final-fantasy-16-the-crystals-curse10

After the cutscene, players find themselves in a strange dimension where they must fight the monstrosity known as Typhon. At the start of the fight, a bunch of small enemies will spawn. Defeat them while dodging Typhon's attacks. The two main attacks to watch out for is the line attack and the circles that appear on the ground. After killing enough enemies, a Cinematic Evasion sequence will occur.

At this point the fight against Typhon begins. Rather than fighting Typhon as Clive, players will be transformed into Ifrit. At the start of the fight, Typhon just swings down with his right hand. This attack has a very visible tell, so players have plenty of time to dodge to the side and continue pummeling Typhon.

As Typhon gets closer to 50% he will cast Unending Clamor. Focus on just dodging the attack and wait for it to end before going back on the offensive. After this attack, Typhon will start using more projectile attacks instead of relying solely on melee. Keep attacking and deplete Typhon's health.

At this point, Typhon will transform and players will have to fight him again. Typhon will attack far more aggressively in his new form. His Unending Clamor attack will now summon three circles instead of one. When Typhon reaches 60% health he will cast Demon Wall. Run toward the gap in each moving wall to avoid taking massive damage.

Thankfully, it is possible to heal as players have six Firelights that can be used during this boss fight.

As Typhon gets lower in health, he will attack more frequently and will combo attacks that don't leave players a lot of room to work with. When Typhon falls below 10% health a series of Cinematic Evasions and Clashes will play out. Upon completing these, players will have successfully slain Typhon. Following the battle a series of cutscenes will play and the current main scenario quest will end.
